My youngest cat (1 year old in April) thinks I have super-powers. At the beginning of the fall, we had an unseasonably blistery cold and dry day (low humidity and about 50 degrees outside). ;) Static electricity had built up and as I lay there reading, this cat climbed up into my lap. When I reached out to scratch his ear, I heard a *zap* and felt the charge hit my finger as the staic discharged into his ear. Ever since then, my cat shies away from my right hand when I reach out to scratch his ear. It's like he thinks I have electricity coursing through that hand or something.

Got any funny stories?

:) Dave

That is a funny story Dave. I kept imagining the cat's hair standing on end when he got that static charge from ya.....hehehe!

I don't have any funny cat stories. My 4 cats live outside and keep down the mouse population for me. Living on a farm you really do need the cats around.

Okay, I got one that made me chuckle and even though I have a cat myself...it doesn't involve her. She's totally innocent this time...

My oldest son is in fifth grade this year and they've recently have learned about gangs and staying out of them. It's a short program that the state has done for the schools to help children be prepared and make better choices. Anyway, they have a booklet of various story scenarios and Q/A afterwards. One of the questions asked if you have a good friend you can talk to. My son replied "yes". The next question asked "how do you know this person makes good choices?" He responded "because she hasn't been arrested yet." :)

lol Teaching high standards in school. That's good. :) That's good that they are teaching against gangs, though.

Kids are so candid and straight forward....gotta love it! :)

Dave, you took the words out of my mouth. I have three kitties and it seems if I pet just their heads – it is – ok. But if I pet their body and then the head crack goes the static –I cringe every time I hate that!

I am not sure if I have told this before. When the boys were younger, I had a home business and my office was downstairs. It was naptime, and I had put them down at their normal time in the afternoon. Well, something told me, a gut feeling, it was a bit too quiet up there. So I decided to investigate. When I poked my head in I caught my youngest, Julian with the black magnum magic marker. But as I looked more closely, I realized he had taken that marker and made a line going all the way around the room at the same level, across the oak closet doors, across the Mickey Mouse framed pictures, the fish tank and other things that were “in his way”. Also he had drawn huge “spacemen” on the walls that offered any space. When I looked down. I had seen it travel across the carpet, up and over the oldest sons bed, right across his forehead (he was asleep) back to the floor again. When it finally hit me that I had no idea how I was going to get this out. I screamed JULIAN! To which he immediately scurried under his twin size bed. I said “GET OUT HERE NOW” over and over, with no response. Finally, a little voice under the bed said, “Call the police mommy, just call the police!” HA! HA! HA!

Far be it better to call the police, than to deal with the wrath of mommy!

My kids did all sorts of crazy things. To be fair here is just one I can think of from the oldest one…

One morning my ex and I woke to six inches of water on the floor. Actually, I work to my ex screaming absurdities when he placed his feet in those six inches of water when he woke up. But this was on the top level of our home. Apparently, in the middle of the night my oldest wanted a drink. Went to the bathroom where we kept a little Tupperware cup. Turned on the faucet, which was one lift – right was cold, left hot. He accidentally turned the hot on full blast, which knocked the cup out of his hands and blocked the drain. So what did he do? He went back to bed and left the water running all night. Why we did not wake I do not know to this day. It caused $10,000 worth of damage. Standing water upstairs and about a foot downstairs. We had to poke holes in the ceiling downstairs to get the water to drain! When we confronted him he said. “It was hot mommy, it was hot!”:sigh:

I won’t even tell you about the time he got the clippers and gave himself a reverse Mohawk..

Fly,

My youngest is 8yrs. old. He went upstairs to brush his teeth and I realized after many minutes, he had been up there for quite some time....and very quiet. Of course this sent up red flags. As I got to the top of the stairs, I saw him coming out of (what I thought) my oldest son's room. He just ran down stairs very quickly. I was suspicious. I checked the room and it looked okay. I assumed he may have taken a toy or something out of his room. I decided to check my room and saw that the bathroom light was on. As I stepped in, I saw what I thought was a rat on the floor. He decided to cut the top of his head because it was too "thick" for him to comb. Instead of wetting his hair down, he got the scissors out. Thank goodness he has thick hair so you really can't tell. I laughed myself to tears, and of course, he got madder and madder at me.

I saved the hair for when he's older...:) Maybe he'll need it in about 30 years.

 Oh I know that feeling, I could have just cried! My son also has this thick beautiful brown hair! :(

I think I just got it back from when I was little and did the same thing to my mother. I had Shirley Temple curls I decided to take the scissors to. Unfortunately, by they time they caught it, I went from hair to the middle of my back - to a buzz cut to even it out, even then it was so close to the head I almost looked as if I were balding! (I have pictures!)

Well, I just spent the last three hours doing an activity which inspired me to post on this thread. Since about 5:15 this evening, I've been trying to calculate my major GPA (they need to know for a scholarship application). Unfortunately, it doesn't actually appear on my transcript, so I have to calculate it. And much to my surprise, it took me this long to figure out how to calculate a GPA. Now if you look under my user name and note what it is that I'm doing here in college, then I think this story makes me look rather foolish. But hey, anything to give you guys a laugh or two.

(By the way Flynmonkie, if you make physical contact with a metal object while petting your cats, they will be perfectly safe from the static.)

 Oh great, this gives me hope... NOT! Here I am in remedial Algebra and struggling:(

(By the way Flynmonkie, if you make physical contact with a metal object while petting your cats, they will be perfectly safe from the static.)

You mean the metal plate in my head or one that is not connected? (JK!) I should have known that. But it is hard to do when lying on a chenille couch? Would the wall work? (I have a pair of wrought iron floor candlesticks too?) This really bugs me.

Does anyone else have a problem with Kitty sitting on your keyboard while your working? Mine will not leave me alone at the computer? Any way to resolve this?
