What you guys Think? when we see the word wine in the bible is that is really wine or juice. When Christ had wine in the bible, He really had wine? this is a very important issues in my family right now. I think if you change a word in the bible you could change others, and that is abosolutly not acceptable:scratch:
what do you think???

Actually, the Bible never comes out and says that Jesus drank wine. It just says that he turned water into wine. The next circumstance is when he lifted up a cup of wine and said, "This is my , which I shed for you." So from what I read, the Bible doesn't come out say that Jesus drank wine. If he did, I don't see where it is documented in the Bible. I hope I have helped you.

While the words "Jesus drank wine" aren't specifically in the Bible, it is clear that he did drink wine in his lifetime (probably pretty often). In addition to his first miracle being turning water into wine (and good wine at that), the passage about the Lord's Supper strongly implies that he himself took some of the wine:
Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, and they all drank from it... "I tell you the truth, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God." -Mark 14:23, 25
Note that he said "again" in verse 25. That means that he probably drank the wine then, or at least at some time in the past.
Now, as for the "it was just grape juice" argument that I've heard before. In a culture without refrigeration, there would have been no such thing at non-fermented grape juice for very long. And since their water wasn't very safe, wine was a staple for most people to drink. Now, I'm sure it wasn't terribly strong, and the Bible is clearly against drunkenness, but there is nothing in the Bible that demands total abstinence from wine. (But if you're like me, you think it tastes too nasty to drink anyway.)

In the verse that you gave, I tell you the truth, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God." -Mark 14:23, 25, it still does not say that he drank wine. It said the fruit of the vine which could mean grape juice. Back in those days the people just squshed the grape juice out of the grapes and drank it that way as well. So we can't make the assumption that Jesus did in fact drink wine. Thats my view on the matter.

Really this is a few issues wrapped in one.
1. Did Jesus drink wine?
2. Is the wine in the Bible alcoholic?
3. Does this mean Jesus sinned?
1. Did Jesus drink wine?
The Bible doesn't comes right out and says that Jesus drank wine. But many verses imply it (Matthew 27:34, Matthew 26:29, Luke 7:34)
2. Is the wine int the Bible alcoholic?
Of course it was (Luke 1:15, Luke 5:39, John 3:10). Why else would the Bible warn us against becoming a drunk? (Proverbs 23:21, Ephesians 5:18)
3. Does this mean Jesus sinned?
The Bible is very clear that Jesus was sinless. The Bible doesn't say that drinking is a sin. Rather it says that being drunk is a sin. This happens when a person has "too much to drink" (John 2:10). It also implies that it's okay to drink in moderation (1 Timothy 3:8) and that it can be healthy (1 Timothy 5:23). However, if your an alcoholic then of course you shouldn't drink. Nor should you drink around those who are (1 Corinthians 8:9).
So did Jesus drink wine? YES
Was it most likely alcoholic? YES
Did Jesus sin? NO
This means it's not wrong to drink.
However...
If it leads you to getting drunk...
If it causes someone else to get drunk...
If doing so would offend others...
then lay down your freedom.
At the very least, you must realize the wisdom in someone saying "If I never drink then I'll never get drunk" and respect your parents.

1. Did Jesus drink wine?
Matthew 27:34 - There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it.
Matthew 26:29 - I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom."
Luke 7:34 - The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." '
2. Is the wine in the Bible alcoholic?
Luke 1:15 - for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth
Luke 5:39 - And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, 'The old is better.' "
John 2:10 - and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now."
Proverbs 23:21 - for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.
Ephesians 5:18 - Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
3. Does this mean Jesus sinned?
1 Timothy 3:8 - Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.
1 Timothy 5:23 - Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
Some will say Jesus didn't drink wine. Or that He only drank grape juice (non-alcoholic). As pointed out earlier, the alcohol in the wine was used to purify water and make it drinkable. Plain grape juice would begin to rot and go bad very quickly. Especially in a hot arid climate like the Middle East.
Now it's very likely that the alcohol content wasn't as high as it is today. But if their wasn't any alcohol in the wine then why warn us not to become drunkards? I've never caught "buzz" from Welch's Grape Juice... have you? Besides, Luke 1:15 implies that ALL wine was fermented "wine or other fermented drink"
There is also a case for science again proving the Bible is right. 1 Timothy says that wine is actually good for you. Scientific experiments say that one glass of red wine each day is actually good for your heart.
Based on these verses it seems logical that Jesus drank wine. He had it at the table for the last supper. Even had his own glass. It appears that only drinking too much wine is wrong. The only reason for someone to assume Jesus did not drink wine or drank "grape juice" is because they think drinking itself is a sin.
I would ask those people... is that what the Bible teaches or is that what you believe because it's what other people tell you the Bible teaches?
The Bible does not teach it is wrong to drink.
However, the Bible does teach limits
If it leads you to getting drunk...
If it causes someone else to get drunk...
If doing so would offend others...
then lay down your freedom.
At the very least, you must realize the wisdom in someone saying "If I never drink then I'll never get drunk"
God is the creator of all things. God created alcohol just like He created sex. However, He also gave us rules on how to enjoy all things in life the way He intended.
For sex, it's within the confinds of marriage.
For alcohol, it appears to be moderation.

Did Jesus drink wine? Yes, it seems abundantly clear to me that he did. In fact, he was once falsely accused of being a drunkard (St. Matthew 11:19). The Bible makes it rather clear that drunkenness is a sin (Romans 13:13, among others).
Does this mean that Christians are required to drink wine? No. Those Christians who have posted here need not try to convince us that drinking is prohibited in the Bible, because I consider you as equal brothers in Christ already. In Romans 14, Paul teaches that those who drink and those who abstain are to be firm in our own convictions, and love each other anyway. I don't think that it is wrong or legalistic to abstain from alcohol. The Bible teaches that there is room for both practices in the church.

It is of course, a kind of wine, that only He offered back in the time
Not like the wine that you all think about today!

I get a kick out of the Did Jesus drink wine discussions. This is a prime example how many people figure out what they believe and then try to manipulate scripture to line up with it.
The Bible is very clear that Jesus drank wine. Why else would they call him a glutton and a wine bibber. That said. I choose not to drink because I was a slave to it for over 10 years. Drinking is not sin, drunkeness is.

Clearly Jesus did drink wine, the wine was alocoholic and Jesus was without sin - I think there is enough here on that already without me adding more. Romans 14 speaks much on this though never talking specifically about alcohol but it does say that we aren't to judge another by how they live out their faith in these things
Here are a couple of key verses:
v12: So then each of us shall give account of himself to God
v13: Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother's way.
v14: I know and am conviced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but ot hm who considers anyting to be unclean, to him it is unclean
Therefore if you don't agree with it but you do it then for you it is sin
1 Cor 6:12 says "All thing s are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."
I guess the bottom line is who is in control?

exactly, I dont drink also because I think its a waste of time, but there is nothing wrong with it in moderation.

Plus, it would have been practically impossible to keep "grape juice" from not becoming wine in short order in a society lacking refrigeration. It may not have been very strong, but it was certainly alcoholic.
