First, I love this thing. Wiki is a great idea for the site.
But, first I think that there should be templates for the entries. It doesnt look to professional when, take for example, the Christian People section, some people have certain information about a person, like feast days, profiles, and stuff but sometimes they are in different orders on other peoples pages. I think there should be a certain fill in the bank template for these especially, so that when people are looing through all of them, the same information is uniformally conveyed.
This will not only make the Wiki look more professional, but it will make finding information a lot easier.
Second, Idea, (i dont know which sections this would work for) is that the entries should be listed in alpabetical order to make it wasy to find what you are looking for without having to do a search... I know that in the Christian People section, it would be nice because you could browse by person and find them quickly.
Maybe... ;)

I have been thinking along the same lines, actually.
Waht I would like to do, at least for the next few weeks, though, is to have people make essentially "free form" entries so we get a variety of styles to choose from. My sense of aesthetics is pretty good in that I can see when things look good, but I lack the creative spark that allows one to make things that look good.
So I am not going to impose a look on things right now, but we will end up with something like templates after a period of experimentation and we create the look.

You can already do this by changing the sort order for the thread under the Display Options.

Awesome! I think it will be easier for people to know what information to enter, plus it will save loads of time later when the Wiki team are gonna have to go back and clean everything up anyway! :)
Im glad this idea stuck!
GOOD GAME!!!

As the Big Kahuna of the CF Wik and a practicing attorney, I'll tell you this is probably a bad idea.
Licensed attorneys won't really want ot participate because of the possibility of malpractice. This will leave others who are often ill-informed to say all sorts of crazy things that will get you into trouble.

I don't know whether it's possible or not, but wouldn't it be better to have a "Wiki Search", to help people find what they want quickly?

Also, wiki links work throughout CF.
So you can make a link to, say, the Lord's Supper anyplace on CF. Just surround a term with the wiki tags like this:
[ wiki]Lord's Supper[ /wiki]
(without the spaces before "wiki")

I'm not quite started here, but before I start posting stuff to wikis (maybe next week) might I ask, would it be possible to arrange a user-friendly hierarchial or tree system in relation to both doctrines and denominations here?
For instance, for denominations (or branches of Christianity) I would recommend starting with Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox and Other. Then under Protestant I would put Anglican tradition, Lutheran tradition, Calvinist tradition, Anabaptist tradition, Revivalist heritage (including non-denominationals) and maybe Second Coming based. I might also recommend a link to some essay on the differences between "Fundamentalist," "Conservative Evangelical," "Mainstream" and "Liberal" branches of Protestantism and divisions within larger denominational families.
Within the Orthodox wiki I'd like to see a clear link to distinctions between Russian and Greek Orthodox traditions, as well as further reference to Coptic groups which (AFAIK) are officially part of the Orthodox fellowship. There should also be some heading for groups which have "grown away" from the Orthodox fellowhip such as the Russian "Old Believers".
Under "Other" I would put all who do not self-identify as Protestant, Orthodox or Catholic, especially those which claim a "supplemental revelation" to the Bible. Perhaps groups which identify themselves as Christian but which do not adhere to the Nicean Creed should be lumped together here.
Do you follow my basic idea? Is this practical? Is there some way that a basic newbie member like me could do this kind of remodelling?
Peace, David H.

I think I follow your idea. It looks like you want more of a tree than an outline, which we have now.
Formatting this is pretty difficult with the current tools we have in vbcode. That being said, however, I think it is worthwhile to explore ways we could do this.

Justin although your first idea is a good idea in premise it takes away from the creativity of each individual. Since wiki is NPOV posting already and since they are already on a "tight leash" so to speak, because of the No Point of View Policy in place and the Heavy rules structure on Copyright and the enforcement of the Flaming Rules of this site to the strictness of the letter, then we have to allow for some creativity on their part when they are actually putting articles together.
With your second idea if people that are on the wiki team themselves would actually show up to HeadQuarters more often then they would in fact see that each category has at the top of the page been stickied. Inside of the sticky for each category is an alphabetatical listing of all of the subjects in that category.
This section of the board is not for already existing wiki members to ask questions or make suggestions this section of the board is for people that are interested in asking questions about the wiki project itself and asking how to become a member.
Members of the tEam are to come to HQ to discuss issues related to wiki itself.

You should be posting in HQ not in the information area for people that are not on wiki.
Try doing what we tell all new members to do in wiki ....
edit other wikis for a little bit for grammar and such, then you will see that there are some wikis that are merely stubs. You may want to expand on one of the already existing wikis or stubs.
