View Full Version : God blessed me tonight!

Before I get to work, I gotta tell this. Let me say that I love my son. God really blessed me with a good son. He is nothing like me when I was his age. He does not steal, lie, drink, do drugs, or any of the other stuff I did at his age. I tried to raise him in church but I also know that at some time in all youths lives there comes a time where they have to exercise some independence. So I let him be independent (within reason). He turned 17 this past October and I bought him for his b-day a 97 Ford Explorer Sport. That's what he wanted so I got it for him. But tonight, I was flattened when he came home. He must be home by 9 pm because he has one of those graduated D.L. He usually goes to the store where he wants to go to work and hangs out. Tonight I got up at 8:30 pm (EST) and was sitting on the couch drinking coffee getting ready for work. I saw him come pulling up and asked Mom where he had been. We assumed he went to the store. When he came in, I asked him where he was. He proceeded to tell me and his mother that the pastor and his wife asked where we were and how we were. I thought this was funny and asked him where did he run into them at. He held up his Bible and said "At church, Dad." Praise God he was at church tonight! My son, like I said, was raised in church. Even when the youth group would meet in the back, he would sit up front with me and listen to the word being preached. What a blessing I got tonight! Thank God for such a good son. In todays world, it is unusual for a teen his age to be in church, yet he was in the Lord's house tonight. Praise God!

I'm happy to hear that the Lord has given your son a passion for his supremacy.

Praise God!!
Love to see young people get into the Lord early, especially when they do it on thier own.. not saying they are not into the Lord, just more active with others.
I have a 17 yr old and still refuses, but keep praying, he is a good son and never gave me problems.. keep praying he will open the eyes.. cannot push it on him..
Peace be with you and your family Deacon Dean :)

I do not think there is anything more overwhelming than when God deals in grace with our children. I do rejoice with you.

Oh DD this is wonderful news! Totally brightened my day! My son actually visited my church 2 weeks ago for the first time, of course I did not raise them in church, but I did raise them to believe in God. I worry about this repercussion in his walk. He plans on returning -- I hope so! God is just so awesome isn’t he?:prayer:

Thanks for sharing that! It's wonderful when someone you love suprises you and proves that God is working all the time.
I can only pray mine will have the level of maturity your son showed when he is that age.
