I have someone at my school that i am starting to get to know well. Her mom just died suddenly:cry: and i do not know if she is a christian or not. she hasnt been to school all week, but i am going to her mom's funeral today. What should i say to her?:confused:

Don't say a whole lot unless you lost your mom too. If you do, you may do more harm than good. Just be there for her, and listen. People who talk and try to comfort others who have lost more than they have only succeed in doing more harm than good.

Very true. This is really good advice. Simply tell your friend how sorry you are about the loss and from then on LISTEN. Do not get into Christian stuff unless your friend brings it up.

Biggest thing is to be there and listen. Don't pretend to have the answers. Now is not the time to debate theology or make statements about where people go after death. If it comes up, just say that you trust in God to know what to do and leave it at that.

She's going to need friends who don't push her or judge her or require a whole lot of her. She'll probably have lots of people saying nice things to her in the first week or two, then people will start to get uncomfortable around her (it's just the way these things tend to happen). Just be available to her.

jcchick ill tell that her mom had been sick for a while but yes they did not expect her to die and i truly dont think theres much u can say because u havent been through this the only thing either of us can do is be there for her!
