View Full Version : Babies?

Dear all,

I added Katherine and Moses and the babies to my prayers awhile ago, because of the difficult pregnancy, and was aware that there are some other little ones on the way here, and now reading some of the posts, it seems like some of those are difficult pregnancies too... So it got me thinking: any pregnency, I imagine, can be tricky, so I think I'm going to add you all...

So, just to get it all in one place, could those of you who are expecting joyful blessings :-) and want prayers post on here with your first name (birth or chrismation) your spouse's name, and whatever would be good to know for keeping in prayers?

Thanks :-)

:crossrc:

Grace and peace,
John

Brenda & Brad

This is our 6th pregnancy, 4 miscarriages and 1 ectopic that required surgical removal. She has had much trouble carrying a child. Please pray for us.

Paige and Reader Robert. The only complications we've had are psychological and the result of also being newlyweds. We were just getting the hang of living with eachother when I became evil and fat and he started working like crazy freaking out about money. But I guess you can pray about that stuff too :)

(Anonykat here)

Thank you so much, John. It's very appreciated. I get out of bed for short periods of time, but more than a few minutes, I start cramping and feeling sick, so I go right back.

Brad, I am SOOO happy for you. How far along is Brenda? With her previous miscarriages, it makes me wonder about low progesterone. Has she had that checked? The doc can prescribe supplements, or she can buy a prog. cream over the counter. If you have any questions about that, let me know. There are also other tests they can run to see if there's any reason for repeat pregnancy loss, like autoimmune issues that can be controlled with meds.

May this pregnancy be blessed and not too difficult for her - though if it is, like it is for me, it will be worth every second of it.

Give her a big hug from me.

LK

Hope you don't mind me posting here.

I had a miscarriage and the doctor did a thyroid test. Low thyroid can also cause a miscarriage.

When I was pregnant but forgot to take my daily dose of thyroid, I would start to experience cramping, get a sudden chill, and feel weak.

You can do an in-home non-invasive test which my doctor told me to do. Early every morning before getting out of bed, I would take my temperature. When I was not pregnant but pre-ovulatory, my temperature would fall between 96.0 to 97.2 (that is low). Post-ovulatory, my temperature was never above 97.6 to 98.2 (and that is still low). Normal charts show 98.4 to 98.8 for post-ovulatory temperatures if a woman has normal thyroid levels.

He also looked at my fingers and told me that if the ring finger and the index finger were the same length, then that is an indicator of low thyroid (Hasimoto's syndrome). Quickly hold your hand straight out in front of you and then without adjusting your fingers, compare the length. One hand had the sign but the other didn't, so I don't have a bad case.

However there was a girl at my university who had the sign in both hands. She is still trying to control her thyroid levels and has horrible hormonal shifts, leaving her exhausted. She remains barren too.

I am also a testament to hypothyroidism causing infertility and miscarriage. We had problems for many years and I was told that I would never carry a child. Eventually, my thyroid was tested because of unrelated symptoms. I was never told that thyroid issues could cause infertility and miscarraige, but within a month of starting medications, I was pregnant and carried him until he was born 2 months early, but fine and healthy. Thyroid issues, either low or high, can also cause poor milk production and is now thought to be the #1 reason why women stop nursing. Most women experience thyroid fluctuations post partum and should be tested if they wish to continue nursing their baby.

So just to have it updated to this point:

Katherine, Moses, and twins (!) :-)
Brad, Brenda, and child
Paige, Rdr Robert, and child

Anyone else?

This is funny, because just last night I was with some friends who are like militant old school Catholics who were saying that traditional Catholics are going to retake the world by reproduction. If this site is at all representative, we'll be giving them a run for their money ;-)

Beyond excited for you all,
John

We had a similar experience. One of the difficulties with thyroid problems is that a great deal of the understanding of how the thyroid affects the body has come about in the last decade or so. In many cases, general practitioners are unaware of these advances. Often, even some endocrinologists (especially those who received their training some time ago) are not aware either.

My prayers are with you all too. :) My thyroid problems prevented pregnancy in me when I was younger, so we adopted twin boys. That was way before any decent treatment was really known; other than surgery, and not even useful. I had half my thyroid removed at the age of 27. Still, it was always "hyper" thyroid. Now, by a God-given miracle, my thyroid is normal with no treatment whatsoever. I just have to watch my intake of iodine in the food. :amen: :liturgy: :priest:

Rainbowbright also said that she was pregnant and desperately needed prayers due to financial struggles.

Alexandria. I also am considered high-risk because I had preeclampsia with my first pregnancy. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers.
