View Full Version : A side effect of Orthodoxy...

Yesterday at work, I was doing some thinking while I worked, mostly about the coming little one. I realized that for the first time ever in my life I am glad and thankful that I was born and that is directly because of the way I have come to know God as a loving Father in Orthodoxy.

I've always felt that being a Christian was kind of like a consolation prize for me but that my first choice would have been to have never been born. I figured that since I was born and there was no undoing that, I might as well try to enjoy life and serve God so I could go to Heaven.

But now, after seeing the beauty in life as it was intended to be lived (in communion with God) it has taken on a completely new meaning. Everything else has more meaning as well since my perspective is changing and I try to see everything in relation to Christ and Him in all things.

This may not make much sense but I wanted to share it anyway.

Becoming a father is an awesome responsibility.

May God grant you many years and wisdom too.

Orthodoxy is most glorious, indeed! What a tremendous blessing your post is, Forgivensinner. The birth of a child, to me, is one of the most incredible witnesses to God's great love and mercy. He loves us before we can ever love Him.

God Bless :)

This totally makes sense, and every once in a while I get a glimmer of it! What a wonderful testimony of a life-changing experience. Thank you.

I cant wait for the beauty you'll see when your little one's born... and then you may ponder the pleasure our Father took when you came into the world!

What a great insight. I think that is something we just forget as we grow older. We just have such difficulty comprehending the Father's love for us....I think we 'know' it...but feeling it down to our heart and allowing it to transform us seems to be the daily struggle.

We are the Father's children, what a miracle!

Warmest regards,
Alyosha
