well folks its official. My Pascha preperations have begun. Every year I throw a dinner party on Pascha evening and all my heterodox friends and family come over and we all have a good time complete with good wine and vodka. I generally like to serve a mix of both traditional american foods and ethnic Orthodox foods. For instance I like to serve both Petitfors and Baklava. Well last year I finally got fed up with dealing with Phillo Dough (I am not a greek, it can't be done) and had it hired in by a lady who owns a local coffee shop. She said it would probably be a one time deal, but I just found out today that she is willing to do it again (and she can make it for less than halph of what it would cost me, and as she learned from her from-the-old-country mother-in-law, its the real thing).
I know this seems like a weird post, but I am really excited. Now I just gotta figure out the rest of menu.

Don't know where you are from (Edit - ok... i am an idoit... Kansas maybe?) but here in Georgia I will be craving smoked pork butt(which is actually the shoulder...) and baby back ribs.
A Boston Butt is a great thing to do because it feeds alot of people and you do not have to mess with it. Just cook it low and slow for ~12 hours
or so. I know onw lady that did one in a crock pot that turned out well.. You could simply put it in early that morning and go on to the Liturgy and not worry about it.
Edit edit - Beef brisket would be good too. Low and slow + feed a crowd.

Let us forgive each other and embrace each other as brothers saying,
Christ is risen from the dead
trampling down death by death
And upon those in the tombs bestowing life.
Notice how this theme is repeated at Forgiveness Vespers and at Pascha.
We sing this both at the beginning and ending of Great Lent.

Don't forget the hors d'oeuvres. I recommend cracklin's. ;)

people after my own heart!
Trust me Rosa--the food in Great Lent is good too. Ever had authentic Toubouli? or Tofu stuffed Grape Leaves?
I think I may have bipolar disorder--I'm slavic in Praxis, but much prefer Greek food.

oh and Anhelyna, this Baklava is worth the anticipation. I don't think it would travel well or I'd post you some in time for Pascha delight.
Oh and ForgivenSinner, I said American Souther cuisine. Our appetizers are pork rinds, six packs, and hostess cakes. I actually saw a woman complete with drawl make a "Tiarra Missou" out of twinkies. It made me so ashamed of being from the south taht I nearly quit eating grits.

There is like 6 million spelling errors in this, but I ahvent slept in nearly three days, so I can't find em all.
