I've got some mince in the fridge which expired on the 7th - should i cook it? (bear in mind that in around an hour and a half it'll be the 10th, but also bear in mind that i live in a tip of a flat and as such have the immune system of a rhino.)

Does it smell sour or yeasty, even a little? If so, throw it out.
Otherwise, you can probably cook it BUT make sure it's cooked all the way through and simmered for at least twenty minutes to kill any bacteria.

I have a very nice recipe for Bulgar parmesan ....
Or you can make an ommelette ....
Isn't it running a bit late for supper? I'm guessing the butcher's is closed ...

It's been sitting in my fridge for a few days and thought i really should cook it before it was too late - i was going to reheat it for lunch tomorrow.

Better to throw it out and avoid a nasty case of food poisoning...

:D :D Mince is just minced beef. I'm pretty sure i'm not going to eat it, though me and my housemate thought it would be quite interesting to see what happens if we just leave it out on the side for few days. :D
I will let you know
(Don't worry though- my parents are coming a week tomorrow so at worst it'll be left out for a week!)

Ground beef. "Minced" beef isn't going to clear the mystery up. Or hamburger beef.

Ah. Well then, you're also going to want to know that lighting a beeswax candle and letting it sit burning (attended of course) in your kitchen will help clear foul odors. For persistent odors, boil a cinnamon stick in an open pot of boiling water, and/or burn a half-gram of coffee grounds on the burner (or in an iron pot if you have a gas flame)

I have a suggestion - leave it out even until they have arrived, and your mother will take such pity on you and your housemates, that she will cook and clean for you the whole time they are staying!

I second that!!
And thanks for the "ground beef" - I was, in fact, still confused by the "minced" beef - geesh we Americans are so small minded (especially us down here in da Sawth - rednecks, etc :) )
