Anyone want to take a stab at this?

Not really. Beacause even if I might not see things the same way they do...I can appreciate their zeal and devotion to Christ. I think the beauty of the Body of Christ is diversity...it takes Anglo-Catholics and Evangelicals to make the church whole, not either/or IMO.
But then again, I'm a recent arrival so I don't know much...

I agree with you. I'm neither and both, yet more one than the other (obviously hehehe). Complicated enough for everyone? That's me being as Anglican as I can get.
Some time ago someone asked me whether I was Catholic or Evangelical, Arminian or Calvinist, Charismatic or cessationist. My reply was that I was just greedy, and wherever God was to be found I wanted Him. What He has to offer, I want, regardless or where it comes from. I always eat the meat and spit out the bones, no matter where I am dining, so I can dine just about anywhere within reason.

I think that one might be able to say that there are some evangelical Anglicans that do not consider the historical aspects and traditions to be very important, and so they do not study them. But it is NEVER safe to generalise about people, and I do know a lot of evangelicals that do appreciate church history, and even some that don't mind referring to their vicar/rector as a priest (but never Father or Mother).
People are individuals, and there aren't many that are at the extremes of the different types of Churchmanship - most are somewhere further in towards the middle, IMV, and I think the diversity is great.
