Hello all-

Today's Washington Post has a (lenghty) article on former Senator, and Episcopal priest (correct term?) John Danforth. I've met him a few times when I was in college and have always admired him. At any rate, you may not agree with everything he has to say but I've always thought he was a good face of the church.

Cheers

Wasn't it Danforth that had the honour of presiding over President Reagan's funeral (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_funeral_of_Ronald_Reagan) at the National Cathedral?

ETA: Yes, he did (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Danforth#Religion).

There seems to be alot of intense debates concerning liberals, progressives, conservatives, fundies, in STR and in the WWMC. Alot focuses on thier differences-some thier extreems. I enjoyed this article as a balanced look at an honest and reflective man trying to live out his own beliefs and those of whom he is elected to serve. One who is willing to openly face divisive issues, learn from experience and yet stand firm as he feels called to do. It was refreshing reading in the midst of so much partisanship in the news.
