Who ARE we to learn from?
Matthew 23:8 (N.A.S.B.)
But do not be called Rabbi;
for ONE IS YOUR TEACHER...
23:10
And do not be called leaders;
for ONE IS YOUR LEADER,
THAT IS CHRIST.
John 6:45 (N.A.S.B.)
It is written in the prophets:
AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT
OF GOD.
Hebrews 8:11
...and they shall
NOT TEACH EVERYONE
HIS FELLOW CITIZEN...
(Please read the entire passage of Hebrews 8:10-11, it's very beautiful.)
1 John 2:27 (N.A.S.B.)
... and you have NO NEED
FOR ANYONE TO TEACH YOU
BUT AS HIS ANOINTING
TEACHES YOU...
The bible has been COMPLETED.
We can learn from GOD ALONE through it.
The correct thing to teach,
is that a person should NOT learn from people.
A person should learn from GOD ALONE.
This is possible, because the bible has
been COMPLETED.
(And Christians have God's Holy Spirit,
to guide us through it as well.)
The teachers found in the bible were needed,
because it had NOT YET been completed at the time.
Now, however...
"It is finished."
and
"Let God be true, and every man a liar." (Romans 3:4 N.A.S.B.)
Have a nice day.

Ok, so what about the spiritual gift of teaching that is spoken of in the NT? Someone help me out with a reference...I want to say it's in Corinthians.
So if God alone is to teach us then this will be your last post? You're going off into the woods to get your lessons directly...right? Let us know how that goes. : D

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;Ephesians 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Could you imagine, with all the discord around here, what the world would be like if we all went off on our own teaching, as we discern what the Bible says???

Hello all;
The greatest hindrance to ones learning is ones own knowledge.
Generally speaking once a person reaches a point where they become too self assured of their knowledge they began to out cast others in an attempt to justify their beliefs and to prevent their being proven in error. This is but one of the reasons God repeatedly warns Christians against pride and self arrogance. (1 Ti 3:6)
Jesus Himself instructs His disciples to teach His followers. (Math 28:20)
1 Co 12:8-9 tells us of the gifts given by one Spirit for the benefit of the body; and a couple of those gifts are that of the gift of wisdom and the gift of knowledge and the gift of discernment. The question I have is would all these gifts need to be present to wholly understand the Word of God? In my humble opinion they would need to be all present; wisdom for the intuition to guide our study, knowledge for the ability to comprehend the words we read and there literal meaning and discernment to be able to see beneath the surface to the spiritual truth being imparted. So yes I for one certainly would have to go with the emotion of thanking God above for the teachers I have had in my life guiding me and helping me to grow in my faith and spiritual walk. The Lord has worked wonders in my life through these loving Christians and I thank Him and them and pray their continued health and ability to reach others.
Remember true knowledge is knowing what you do not know, true wisdom is being willing to ask the one that dose.
As always my love to all and May God Bless. :prayer:

Matt 11:1
1After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee.[a]
Eph 1:17
17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Lk 12:12
12for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say."
Lk 20:21
21So the spies questioned him: "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.
Jn 14:26
26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
1 Tim 4:11
11Command and teach these things.
2 Tim 2:2
2And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.
2 Tim 2:24
24And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
Heb 5:12
12In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!
Heb 8:11
11No longer will a man teach his neighbor,
or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,'
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
1 Jn 2:27
27As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

If everything that Jesus did and said were put into books, the world would not be able to contain them.
You are not alone, your strength is in numbers.
Were two or more are gathered together in Christs' Name, He be amongst you. Would that not mean that a continual Knowledge of Jesus Christ Teachings would exist, just on that statement alone, not to mention many others and not to mention all the ones that were not put into The Holy Scriptures. There are many Words of Christ still not in your completed bible. You have not received a revelation from God stating otherwise, if so, that would null and void your completed bible and you would have to start from scratch all over again. We are blessed that we have what little Scripture that we do have, but it is definately not complete. Scripture itself confirms this to be true. So deal with it, become the salt that you are and come out of the shaker and amongst the rot, be a light unto the world, do not cover yourself with a bushel for others to not be able to see. Teach my dear bretheran, learn and grow in faith and Knowledge according to Gods Word.
Greetings unto you in Jesus Christs' Name.

So nobody is allowed to go to church or bible college? Because you are being taught by people there. There is nothing wrong with being taught, but whatever you are taught you have to make sure its in alignment with the Bible.

One can go to a Sunday building and just listen to the music, and then leave.
One could also listen to any message with skeptisism.
One could also attend bible-college (or not) , with skeptisism, as well.
However, I would like to share some writings of Paul, with regards to learning from earthly-humans:
Galatians 1:1 (Greek interlinear version)
Paul an apostle,
NOT from men ,
NOR through man,
but through Jesus Christ,
and God (the) Father...
1:11
I make known And to you, brothers, the gospel preached by me,
that NOT it is according to man.
NOT For I from man received it,
NOR was I taught (by man),
but by a revelation of Jesus Christ.

"And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it - lest you even be found to fight against God." - Acts 5:38-40
If God is not in the teaching process, from His Holy Spirit, you will learn nothing but the words. But if the Holy Spirit is in the midst of what is being taught and learned you will learn so much more. He who has ears to hear let him hear.
So long as it Biblically backed up, teach on. Remembering - "My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgement."

it is finished is the term the lord used on the cross. his work was completed on the cross. yes, God is our teacher. but i think what the verses were referring to was as far as being taught, God himself takes precedents over any rabbi, leader, prophet or whomever. even jesus said in matthew 23:3 all therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say and do not. i can understand where your coming from. God does have the finally say. but through experience, i learned that sometimes God can send someone to give us an answer to something if He choses too. His ways is not limited in the way He decides to teach us a certain thing. there are many false prophets in the world. that's why we all have to look towards God as our final source of any information. now how he choses to send it, it's up to him. that's when spiritual discernment comes into play.

I agree with you ronmathison, Ive been basically saying that here for a while. If God pleases to send the Holy Spirit within us as a gift it will grow and teach us. And if we go to a church and hear wrong stuff or see wrong things the spirit within will talk to us.

There is a difference between we helping each other here by the spirit of God within all of us and ministers and teachers who go to seminaries and have institutionalised doctrines which are reapeated over and over in all churches like a factory processing line. There is more truth here at this forum being revealed including all the disagreements we have because we all speak from our hearts.
