What do you mean are we searching for our gifts? If you are implying we should expect God to give us all a special talent, I don't think that's right. We shouldn't expect God to give us stuff like that. If God gives us a gift that he wants us to use he will reveal it to us, we shouldn't have to look for it, and we shouldn't expect God to just bless us with something just because.

I think I have an idea of what my spiritual gifts are. Experientially, it seems that they're just there and it surprises me that some other Christians aren't spiritually wired the same way I am; conversely, I find it hard to understand why some other believers are so much better at say, serving than I am. I just don't understand their propensity to be so selfless and serve in the way they do as often as they do. I hope this doesn't sound critical, because it's not intended to be.

Honestly, I believe our gifts are revealed to us as we need them. I also do not believe we always keep the same gifts. We are to desire the greater gifts but I think we miss the point if we go off in search of specific gifts. God gives us gifts as He sees fit.

Why do you not think that we keep the gifts?

I have a gift, but I don't know if it's from God or not. Most people say that it would be from Satan. Sometimes when I touch people I see things about them. I've had this gift? since I was a child. I finish peoples sentences, I know who is calling before the phone even rings. I saw my husbands death a month before he passed away. If this is a gift, I'd really like to give it back.

Hi, just wondering how many people have discovered their gifts...and if not, are you researching it?
I should search... I think I have an idea though..
I'll post some prophecy concerning me, this fits completely with what is going on in my life , the prophetic ministry in this forum is amazing , you should really check it out ! :
You are one who hungers and thirsts for righteousness.
Be assured that God sees your efforts and will reward your faithfulness.
Keep your heart open and soft, as disappointments can bring cynicism which isn't of God.
He sees your life and your disappointments and he will bring joy out of mourning and beauty where you thought there were only ashes.
He is faithful and true and his timing regarding you is perfect.
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness because they will be filled.
The Lord can see the state of your heart and knows that there is plenty there that He can work with.
You have a soft heart toward Him and you are open to whatever He gives you and wherever He leads you.
Your capacity for God is being stretched so that what you had before no longer satisfies you.
This is why your hunger for him has increased. As you continue to seek Him, He will continue to fill you with good things that you can share with others.
All this is happening because He has a ministry for you.
It is not quite clear what that ministry is yet, but it will be in the Spirit and it will bless a good range of people.
Your words will come like honey out of the carcase of the lion.
Where people are struggling to make sense of life, your words will sustain and feed them.
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal (of the flesh)
but are mighty through God for the pulling down on strongholds and bringing every thought
into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
I get a sense that you are fighting battles an
d are using your own strengths and abilities to try and win,
and are not making too much of a success at it.
These are situations where you cannot use your natural mind to think your way through it.
God has provided spiritual weapons for the warfare that are much more effective for fighting the battle. There is the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Applying the Word of God to a situation will have great effects. You also have armour to protect yourself from the fiery darts of the enemy. You have the breastplate of the righteousness of Christ to protect you against the accusations of the enemy who would want to bring you down through your own sin consciousness.
You have the helmet of salvation where a blow to your head (or mind) will have no effect against you.
You have the shield of faith to protect your whole body against being wounded.
Your feet are shod with the gospel of peace.
That gives you a solid foundation to stand on. That foundation will never be removed.
I sense that you need to collect together an arsenal of scriptures to counter the attacks that are coming against you.
Using those scriptures will be like a sword that will cut through the ranks of the enemy and bring you through as a victor.
This is especially true when you are fighting the enemy of depression and discouragement.
Using the sword of the Spirit will cut right through them and bring you to a place of peace and joy in the Lord.

I've taken this test a few times: http://www.kodachrome.org/spiritgift/
Right now, my gift is faith. I don't know how accurate the test is, but I enjoy having to think about things when I take it. I agree, as stated already, that we don't always keep the same gift.
I also think I pull the dark side to me somehow. Psychics are drawn to me for some reason, although I've never asked them to tell me anything. It would seem creepy if I didn't think it was my Christianity that summoned them to me. If a psychic approaches me, they say something that has to do with the prayers I've been praying at the time. I've been told I'm a healer, and it coincides with what is said about people that have electrical energy around them (I stop watches, can give enough static to a light bulb to make it light up for a second, POP a balloon with static, etc) I don't know what a healer does though, so it doesn't do me any good to know that about myself. LOL

Precisely... a gift is a gift, not a reward.
