Anybody ever have the experience of meditating on a particular question all week long...then hearing the answer to your question in the priest's sermon? That happened to me today...very cool.

I'd been ruminating for several days about how much I rely on myself vs how much I rely on God...and lo and behold that was the sermon topic. I almost fell off the pew!

That's happened to me quite a few times, and each time i am so naive that i comment "what a coincidence"

I pray that your Priest gave you some of the anwers you were looking for.

I ditto TomUK. It happens rather often to me...at least 7 or 8 times a year. Doesn't sound very often, but with the vast array of possible topics, it certainly makes it more and more amazing when you add up the odds :)

Has happened to me also. Usually when I am unstable due to emotional stress or some other type of stress is when it happens. Makes me feel a lot better.

Yes, it happens to me frequently. Sometimes it is just a sentence or two that clarifies a conflict within, and we gain insight, or a lightening of our burdens.

For sure. It was this kind of "coincidence" that kept me in the Anglican Church, after not having attended any church for over 10 years.

I'm really grateful when things like this happen...I can be hardheaded and need a good wake-up once in a while.

It's good to be reminded that it is fine to sit back and not try to figure everything out all the time...but to rely on God. I am guilty of overthinking a LOT. But God isn't grading on the curve...whether I have the understanding of a theologian or a fool, it matters not because the admission into heaven ain't like the SAT's. I don't need to know everything for God's grace to work!

(It's a good thing, too!)

My priest said something great to the effect of (when consulted by parishioners in the midst of a struggle who questioned whether they truly had Jesus in their hearts) " the important question isn't whether you have Jesus in your heart, but if He has you in His heart."

Sometimes we just need to stop our thrashing about and TRUST Him!

I have had that experience as well. It's even more amazing when the sermon contains wisdom that I was not even aware of needing. Sometimes conflicts are clarified in unexpected ways.

Yes, this happens to me quite often.. in fact it seems to be our Lord's prefered method of speaking to me... through other people
