CF software upgrade! How will the pets handle this!

I think I'm going to do that with Eli too. I'll have to do it tonight, because I won't be able to get on at all tomorrow... I ahte to do it, but I agree. It's just to be safe.

Yes this is a scary thought. Was thinking about it all night and decided to be safe and place all pets up for adoption in daycare until after the first of month. In Erwin announcement it said CF would be down for about 12 hours but all the extra's like armor and I assume pets he would have to recode and that would take maybe all week. I did not want to lose any pets because of that so adopted them and placed them in daycare until after the upgrade and since is so close to end of end decided to keep them in daycare until after first of month just to be safe...

(All but the pets for 5000 and 10,000)

I suggest you all do the same. I will check back to see if anyone needs help....

But if the whole lot is offline then doesn't it mean it's not doing anything at all? The whole system stops, therefore when it starts again, it should just pick up from where it left off. Think about it - the pets can hardly slowly starve if they don't exist for the week or however long it will take.

Plus I'm sure Erwin has taken this into consideration, especially with all the hype about "saving the pets" and the pet hospital/doctors/nurses etc, so I wouldn't stress. If he felt there would be a problem, I am sure he would let us know in advance. :)

No no what I was saying was the pets will be offline. So nothing will happen to them. They will freeze. They won't exist.

As for the problems with downtime, I am sure Erwin will disable the pets or make it so they can't starve simply because we can't get onto the site. I am sure he has already considered all of this. I don't think there will be any problems with the pets. I think throughout the entire upgrade, the pets will cease to "exist".

It does happen, has happened before with up-grades, If you can not log on and feed your pet after the up-grade then yes your pet will starve until you can get on-line again. *LDI have to go away next Thursday so I have put Mishka in care for 25 days, because I'm not sure whether i will be able to log on in that time. Hope this works.

probably the thing for some of the pet rescuers to do (if they have time!) would be to check the day care center and see if any of the pets on their list are comming out before the shut down on Sunday. if that is the case (and you know who ownes them), perhaps a pm to the owner might be waranted just so they know the situation?

p.s. just noticed there was a black snail, blue shell named "Sprinkles" who is up for adoption for 400. i seem to recal that he belonged to a pet rescuer but can't remember whose he is.

Here is what I plan, tomorrow I will feed the pets to 100 percent empty within hours toward the upgrade. That would be a very good idea. :)

Oh, I hope 4 days is enough. If Sprinkles is still there late this evening, I'll adopt him and put him in day care for a couple/weeks.

Sprinkles was mine. Unfortunately I couldn't keep him because I am now working 30 hours a week, as well as going to uni, so I'm not sure how much time I have to get onto CF anymore. I would rather give him to someone who will look after him (he's been adopted already, which is a great load off my mind) than to keep him and have him almost dead by the time I can get on to feed him.

Yes at least two days... just remember that only the site will be back after the 12 hour up-grade all the extras may take up to the whole week to get back....some pets I placed in daycare until after the first of the month so they would be safe until everything comes back online.... but two days should be fine....

I don't think the pets that are currently showing up in the post will have an decrease in hunger until the feature start working again because the pet feature isn't even working. Perhaps, when it start working, your pet will come out of the day care and back to you.
I see pets in some people's post but those pets don't appear to be starving to death (eyes observation) after 5 hours of offline time.
