I am looking for a non-schismatic source for an Icon of St. Euphrosynos. So far all I have found is the one that HTM has. Anyone have any clues?

I can sell you a print of my copy of the icon. Let me scan in a copy of it and I will post it later. Do you want it mounted?

Ok, sorry, had to scan it in. Pm me for details.

Why does St Euphrosynos always look so depressed? In all the icons that I have seen of his (till now) he looks really down.

The faces on icons are not meant to have a look of "happiness" on them.

I'm planning on going back to school in the fall to become a chef, therefore I need to get an Icon of him. Will have to look around at the various ones and see which one fits into the rather limited wallspace....

Awesome, i hope you will be able to find the perfect one.

On the other hand, it's interesting that your planning on becoming a chef. I dont hear many doing such a practice and i especially praise a person with such an interest because i can't even turn on a oven. :sorry: lols.

I'm from the midwest and the south--food is in my blood. Not to mention that all of lifes qualms can be helped by baking some lovely pastries (which alas can't be eaten because the other thing in the blood is Diabetes).

Most Orthodox kitchens should have an icon of St. Euphrosynos in them. My icon of St. Euphrosynos has graced my kitchen for about the past 5 years.

I have an Icon of the Unburning Bush in my caravan - I'm told that this should also be in every kitchen.

Is this correct ?

Not sure about that one, I will have to do some reading on it.

I have my Icon of Christ and St Photini at the well above my kitchen sink. :)

The Slavic tradition also places icons of the Unburning Bush in kitchens as protection against fires. The kitchen is truly one of the most religiously significant places in our homes.
From HERE (http://www.unicorne.org/orthodoxy/articles/articles_b/cook.htm)

Maybe keep it next to the fire extinguisher?

This thread has given me a great idea. ;)

My husband (non-Orthodox) is the cook in our house, and a great one at that. The kitchen is his domain! So I will get an icon of St. Euphrosynos and put up, and ask his prayers for my hubby!

Thanks, guys!

I plan on writing one of those for my kitchen, to go right next to the sink.
