I have been invited to give a 45 min speach and 15 min question and answer session at this year's bi-ennial Icon Festival in Pittsburgh! It is the weekend of the Sunday of Orthodoxy and my speach will be the Sunday session! I have exhibited at the first three festivals (2000,20002,2004), but have yet to have the opportunity to give a talk at one!

Thank you. I have already taught a 6 hour college class on this subject, so this should be easy in comparison.

I think I am going to need to get it taped, for my own sake. I will want a copy for my record, and will want to see how I come across.

I tend to get the stage fright before hand, like last night. Once I have started giving the speach I will be fine.

Sunday March 14th at Holy Cross Orthodox Church on Gilkeson Rd, Mount Lebanon, Pa. My talk will be at 2 pm. For those of you who know Pittsburgh, it is the big white church next to the Galleria. The Festival will be Saturday-Sunday, not sure of the times though. I will post those later.

I talked with my teacher last night about how to approach this, and now I feel much, more more comfortable with it.

Great Holy Icons Batman! The Church is mere minutes from my uber-Protestant family out there!
I'll have to make a visit to them that weekend so I can drive them nuts by going to an Icon Seminar. ;)

Ohhh fine, take all the fun out of it! j/k :P
I'll be on my best behavior -- I promise!
This will be cool, I'll finally get to see Divine Liturgy in the Greek tradition.
(There is a Greek Church not far from me, but I just hate missing my priest's sermons on a normal Sunday. :) )

I have been to plenty of Greek Divine Liturgies before and I am not wild about them because 1. I do not like organs, and 2. I don't understand a word of Greek.

Well, to each their own.
I'm just interested in experiencing all the different "flavors" of Orthodoxy.
While admittidly unhealthy at times, in the U.S. we are fortunate that we can experience so many different cultures within the Orthodox Church without leaving the country, and I just want to take advantage of that. :)

I was discussing this with the owner of the company I work for who was giving me tips on how to give long presentations yesterday. So, I think I will be fine.
