I went down to Saint John the Wonderworker in Atlanta today to help out with a few things and lo and behold they are lucky enough to have in their collection of relics one link of the chain of Saint Peter. Pretty neat seeing as today is the Veneration of Apostle Peter's Precious Chains. I actually got to touch the chain that the Angel broke. Cool huh?

Is that going to be your next design, Greg?
Dreadful chains. :D
The fuzzy parasites won't know what hit them. ;)

Happy Birthday eoe
Now about that chain veneration thing--that's just strange. And today is the official Venerate Apostle Peter's Chain-who am I to question something that's been going on for a thousand years (probably more) but it sure strikes me as strange. Did you get to touch it?

What an awesome birthday, huh?
It sure was.
I also got to meet some people from the Martin Luther King center and a gentleman from St. Joseph's Hospital's mercy outreach program. It was nice to learn that there are programs that go farther than simply feeding the homeless (which is critically important in itself). St. Joseph's provides dental, medical, drug rehab. and job prep. services for those that need it.

That is wonderful.
One of the saddest things about the homeless (at least especially in Chicago) is that many of them are mentally ill, and there are so few resources for them.

What a blessing to be able to venerate the chain of St. Peter! Many people are healed each year when they venerate the chains of St. Peter. Happy Birthday! :)

It is wonderful to see that which we read about and to be able to venerate it and remember that ours is not a dead faith...and through it our faith is strengthened!
