My wife is looking to do a placement for her Bible college course with a messianic synagogue and I was just wondering what you guys would consider to be the key differences between Messianic Jewdaism and Christianity.
I know that you would use the name Yeshua rather than Jesus but after that I am not so clear on the differences.

the key difference would be that MJ utilizes the Torah and traditions that Jesus taught and lived while on earth(those being Jewish in nature) , and Christians just use traditions of men. These traditions were handed down to them after the Catholic and Protestant Chuches had eliminated all traces of Jewish culture from the Worship and Devotion Yeshua lived , taught and conformed in them to do........*sad*:sigh:

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Simonline again. You deserved to be rep for the strong emotional response. More of the Lord's need to stand up like that.

Simonline,
You write like a Messianic, how come you don't have a scroll? Are you still in the Church? ;)

Do MJ read the NT also?
Also do you watch Manna Fest w/ Perry Stone? Love his teachings, on the History and customs also the meanings of names, and all sorts of stuff from OT to NT..

I like to surprize people! After all, someone's got to stick around to educate us ignorant goyim?!
[Where I live, the normative Jewish Community is very low key (no longer any synagogues in my city) and to the best of my knowledge there is no Messianic Jewish Community either (but there are some believing Gentiles who, like myself, have a heart for Israel)]
Simonline.
There are very few Messinaic Synagogues in the UK, I only know of three, London, Leicester, ans Scotland.
Some people seem to have got the wrong impression about me. Other posts I have made in GT show this, Christians are grafted into Israel, we do not replace it.
I also believe we have an important ministry reaching those Jews who do not yet know Yeshua.

You are so right exegesis is massively important when reading the Bible. The level of understanding that comes when you understand the context or that the speaker or writer was quoting from the OT. Of course not all of the NT was written with Jews in mind but was written to both Jew and Gentile (e.g. Paul's letters).
The thing so many people forget is that Christ came first for the Jew, then for the Gentile and we Gentiles are just the dogs gathering crumbs. Even Paul who described himself as the Apostle for the Gentile always went first to a synagogue and preached there before preaching to Gentiles.

hi
Mannafest is on TBN and Daystar which are 2 Christian channels I sometimes watch.. and Perry Stone is like a Messanic Jewish person.. he really tells the stories in the Bible with the true Jewish ways and words.. and he speaks with MJ's in Israel and around the world also Jewish Scholars.. here is one thing I learned
In Bethleham.. is where Jacobs wife Rebecca died having Benjaman, which name means "Right Hand of the Father" .. also Ruth and Boaz, line of David, had so much land owned in the same area. Jesus said Abraham knew about him and could not wait to see the day Jesus would come to earth.. so Jacob must of been told by Abraham about the Messiah which is why he named one of his sons the way he did..
thanks

.
As for Perry Stone, I have just recently discovered him through watching a video recording of his teaching on the end times and the tenfold kingdom of the Antichrist....very interesting. He puts a different (and very plausible) slant on the Antichrist's Euro-centric powerbase involving five 'western' ('Christian'?!) nations and five 'eastern' Islamic nations (centering around Turkey)? Well worth studying.
Simonline.sounds cool thanks Simon, I'll look into it:wave:

Yeah it really does Tishri1.
God opened that up for me about 7 years ago.
Now's He's got me on the Law of sin and death and
leading me to putting it to death this bad Law witin.
:preach: God coming afresh to re-Evangelize me!!
I've experienced in life, that if I am not being led by
God's Holy Spirit to the putting to death ~sarcasm,
anger, rage, pride of life and such~ that I won't have
anything HOLY and in LOVE to give The Jews or any
one else. For it does seem like the enemy would have
us ~learn many things~ and to ignore our own walk
With Christ.
2 Corinthians 7:1
Hebrews 12:14
We don't get the "holiness or peace" without
suffering in the flesh to cease from sin so that the
flesh-nature (little by little), those Canaanite Nations,
are put to death!
As a whole, correction has come through the Front Door,
re-explaning what Jesus does do when We Receive His Spirit,
how He is wants to Led us to put the deeds of the body to death.
We are still so quick to use sarcasm and pride in our knowing of
how to ~get back at someone~ in all what they know about God.
Somehow ~helping God out!~
We are still missing THE DOVE AND CHRIST.
:preach: One crying in the wildreness,
Connie

Now's He's got me on the Law of sin and death and
leading me to putting it to death this bad Law. The Law is not bad it is the means by which you can define sin. It is sin that is suppose to be put to death.

I thinks she means that the Law of her own body compelling her to sin...am I right? Like Paul talked about....I followed her to a different forum :scratch:where was it? well over there everyone there was replacing Israel as God's Chosen and it was really sad how bad they talked about Isreal and Jews....Sad:sigh: and can easily make you angry....did me:mad:....but that would be sin right?
here is where I was if anyone want's to put in $.02
