U.S. PREPARING NATO FOR POSSIBLE STRIKE ON IRAN: German media sources have recently reported that the Bush Administration is preparing its North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies for a potential attack on nuclear sites in Iran. The Berlin paper "Tagesspiegel" quoted NATO intelligence sources who said that "NATO members have received information that the U.S. is currently looking into all possibilities, including a military attack against the regime in Tehran." (Haaretz) "The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.” Psalm 28:8
I'm really hoping my Mom doesn't hear about this before I return from Jerusalem. She worries enough for 10 people...

The events running in recent and current news just reminds me that certain things must come to pass before Messiah returns to rule the nations. Sad and tragic as these events are...eventually it will be "and it came to pass..."

From a weekly newsletter sent out by Bridges for Peace:
4) IRAN SAID TRYING TO ASSEMBLE BOMB, EUROPE-RANGE MISSILE
A recent western intelligence assessment holds that Iran has been "successfully scouring" Western European countries and the former Soviet Union for the technology needed to produce an atomic bomb, as well as ballistic missiles capable of reaching Europe, the British Guardian newspaper reported on January 4.
The paper quoted the 55-page assessment, which it said had been used to brief European Union ministers and to caution industrialists against exporting equipment or know-how. It said the assessment, dated July 1, 2005, was based on material gathered by British, French, German and Belgian agencies.
The report "concludes that Syria and Pakistan have also been buying technology and chemicals needed to develop rocket programs and to enrich uranium. It outlines the role played by Russia in the escalating Middle East arms build-up, and examines the part that dozens of Chinese front companies have played in North Korea's nuclear weapons program."
"The leak of the intelligence report may signal a growing frustration at Iran's refusal to bow to western demands that it abandon its program to produce fuel for a Russian-built nuclear reactor due to come on stream this year," the newspaper wrote. Tehran insists that its nuclear program is oriented solely for such peaceful purposes as producing electricity.
According to the report, the "assessment declares that Iran has developed an extensive web of front companies, official bodies, academic institutes and middlemen dedicated to obtaining-in western Europe and in the former Soviet Union-the expertise, training, and equipment for nuclear programs, missile development, and biological and chemical weapons arsenals."
Scores of Iranian companies and institutions are involved in the arms race, the assessment is quoted as saying.
"Iranian scientists are said to be building wind tunnels to assist in missile design, developing navigation technology, and acquiring metering and calibration technology, motion simulators and x-ray machines designed to examine rocket parts," the newspaper wrote. "The next generation of the Shahab ("shooting star" in Persian) should be capable of reaching Austria and Italy."

PRAYER FOCUS
Nuclear weapons in the wrong hands will be catastrophic for the Middle East and the World. Pray the Lord guides international diplomats to find the appropriate way forward so that war and violence can be averted.
SCRIPTURES
"Your right hand, O Lord, is majestic in power, Your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy. And in the greatness of Your excellence You overthrow those who rise up against You" (Exodus 15: 6-7).
Not related to the "Iran theme" I had going, but still worth posting:
8) PA HATE TV REACHES NEW LEVELS
PA TV program on Jaffa (Tel Aviv): "It is time for you (Israelis) to be gone. Live wherever you like, but don't live among us. It is time for you to be gone. Die wherever you like, but don't die among us. We have the past here. We have the present, the present and the future. So leave our country, our land, our sea, our wheat, our salt, our wounds. Everything. And leave the memories."
These words of hate are the parting moments of yet another program on Palestinian Authority (PA) television calling for the destruction of Israel. The words, calling for the expulsion of every last Israeli from Israel, are spoken while the screen is showing Jaffa-Tel Aviv, Israelis and Israeli flags. Official PA TV has aired this twice in recent months.
The program about Jaffa opens with a revision of history, by casting the ancient Canaanites as Arabs. By doing this, the more than 3,000 years of Jewish history in the area are pre-dated by a fabricated Arab history. (The Arab Conquest actually took place in the seventh century of the Common Era.)
Jaffa, a part of Tel Aviv, is defined as a Palestinian city, and all of Israel's coastal cities, Acre, Haifa, Caesarea, Ashdod, Ashkelon and Jaffa, are said to be situated in what is "known today as Palestine." According to this PA program, Israel is already non-existent.
The final words of this television program are those of Israeli-Arab poet, Mahmoud Darwish, calling for the expulsion of every Israeli: "Die wherever you like, but don't die among us."
( By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook, Palestinian Media Watch, December 29, 2005)
PRAYER FOCUS
"O Lord deliver your people from the hate speech which constantly curses them. Bring you blessings, Lord and defy the passionate hate of the evil one."
SCRIPTURE
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit." (Proverbs 18:21)

Your PRAYER FOCUS and SCRIPTURE is right on IITB.
I cannot take credit, as that is something Bridges for Peace (http://www.bridgesforpeace.com/) does with every news item they mail out/post on their website. From the weekly newsletter that I mentioned earlier:
It is our goal to send you news items to help you more effectively pray for Israel in accordance with Psalm 122:6. Therefore, in addition to the news items, we add prayer focus, where applicable, so that you can pray along with us for Israel. We will also continue to intersperse positive news items so that our message is not just crisis-oriented. We don't want to be just another news-service provider, but to send an interpretative message ultimately focusing on prayer for Israel.
If I took the time to add prayer focus and scripture to every news item I post, they'd all be horribly dated by the time you saw them. :D

Propaganda?
Do you seriously want a terrorist state (and YES the Iranian leadership does financially and religiously support terrorists!!!) to have control of nuclear capabilities?
Just think of the dirty bombs they could build with the waste and left over material ...
who cares if they enrich for an actual nuclear weapon..
hrrmmmmm
something to think about...or just propaganda.... heh

We are about to see why America is in Iraq.
It's all part of a larger (brilliant) strategy.

What's happening in North Korea these days? I haven't heard too much about them. Hmmm. I just hope that they are not trying to freak out the public by saying that Iran has weapons of mass destruction when they actually don't. I just feel like they are trying to build a mountain out of a mole hill again.
