Do Messianics, or regular Jewish people believe in a place of eternal damnation,: hell?

I still do! I believe it is reserved for Hasatan(Satan) and his followers and all who ABBA considers "The Wholly Wicked"

Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought the signs in his sight, wherewith he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshipped his image: they two were cast alive into the lake of fire that burneth with brimstone:

Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are also the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Rev 20:14 And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, even the lake of fire.

Sounds like Hell to me. I have talked with some 7th Day Adventists who don't believe that the lake of fire is Eternal. But Revelations says for ever and ever.

There's a great Abyss where Satan is thrown, isn't there?

What if this eternal fire isn't opened yet?

Something that I hope is true: Perhaps there is in fact a "middle" ground where the righteous in life go and the wicked in life go (whether they have known Yeshua or not). And perhaps these two groups can see each other like it shows in Luke 16 with the story of the rich man and El'azar (Lazarus). Perhaps these places are where people go in wait for the coming judgment day of the L-rd, not in Heaven or Hell, but in wait. Then, when all are brought before HaShem in judgment and are given a chance to see Yeshua for who he truly is and are given a chance to reject or accept him...then at that time will the fires of Gehenna/Hell be opened up and the demons and the wicked are cast in.

It seems that perhaps that theory would satisfy people who don't think G-d is merciful enough and those who think G-d isn't Just enough.... we all know He is perfect in both ways.

I know that God said the eternal fire of hell will be for ever and ever... just never heard that anyone (human) can exist in them for eternity.

Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are also the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Which is what the eternal fires are reserved for.

2 Peter 2:4
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

I seem to see more scripture about sleeping when you die(all consiousness leaves you as if you are asleep) and I suspect that the rich man and Lazareth story is just alligory or midrashic...but that's just me:)

That's a hard question to answer seeing as how the word "hell" is not found in the Greek, nor in the Hebrew. The English word "hell" is a poor translation of several Greek and Hebrew words which all have their own meaning. The concept of hell is a fabrication by English translators, and Protestant doctrine. It's unscriptural.

How did I know in advance, someone would post that ^

Thanks for the responses, folks. I was under the impression that the Jewish (messianic or otherwise) did not believe in a place of eternal torment.

BillyMy Rabbi believes in a place of eternal torment. He died about 2000 years ago and visited the holding place for those that are destined to go there. But He didn't stay there, or dead for that matter, because He is the physical embodiment of the all powerful G-d. He created this place of eternal torment for bad angels that tried to interfere with His loving plans for His children. Then He said that all those that are on their(the bad angels) side would be put there too. I think my brother Yovel quoted some appropriate verses from the book of Revelation. My Rabbi wrote that book about His plans for us so we would know. :D

I like Him a lot and trust Him too. He never lies.

At first I thought you were speaking of your natural teacher. Heh heh, then I saw that He died 2000 years ago. I see we have the same Rabbi, small world isn't it. :P
