Three of my friends are being baptized tonight. We believe to baptize in the name of Jesus.

The only topic here is is the translation of the name Y'hshua, Jesus, the same as the Hebrew name. There are many translations of the name. Has it been wrong to use the translations for 2000 years?

I'm of the opinion that it's not wrong to use whatever translations we've been using. I believe G-d is above all that... and it's not a sin to misspell His Name. ;)

The only topic here is is the translation of the name Y'hshua, Jesus, the same as the Hebrew name. There are many translations of the name. Has it been wrong to use the translations for 2000 years?Let's say I am a father of a beautiful baby boy. I am thrilled when he can utter "da". I am very excited when later in life, he chooses to call me father instead of daddy. And later still, when he introduces me by my proper title and full name, I am even more pleased.

I called Him Jesus when that is what I knew. Now that I know some of His proper names and titles, I use them as the correct circumstance requires - out of love and respect. But sometimes I just look up to Him, raise my arms in the air and say, "Waaaaaaaaa! Pick me up! Hold me!"

Ha. the Chinese translation "Yesu" was from Hebrew "Yeshua", but not English "Jesus".

If you use the name of "Jesus" in a correct (not Paganism) way, Sure He will realize what you want.I think so.
