Ok, so now that you have received all your Christmas gifts were there any that you are returning and exchanging for something you really wanted?
I had to return a sweater because it was a size too small. When I went to the store I found another sweater with a different color pattern that I liked better so I was able to make an even exchange.
My cousin gave me two books. "In Search of Paul" by John Crossan. He is a known author of "The Historical Jesus" and is a part of the Jesus Seminar. I exchanged it for "Here I stand" by Roland Bainton and St. Augustine's The Confessions.
I look forward to reading the St. Augustine book first. So far I like what I read.

This year I had a Christmas list (my husband set the example) and everyone pretty much used that as a guide so I have no returns...oh my husband got me a few things not on the list but they were things I could use and enjoy.
However...the icing on the cake...my mom sent me some money so I bought Augsburg and Constantinople : The Correspondence between the Tubingen Theologians and Patriarch Jeremiah II of Constantinople on the Augsburg Confession (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0916586820/103-3537708-9667022?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance) I've already started reading it and it is great. And I found DVDs of the first season of Murphy Brown.
My son is returning the ipod he got...it is malfunctioning.
No other returns in our family.

There wasn't much of a description on amazon. I've seen parts of the correspondence itself on the net - does this book have commentary to go along with it? Any other content?
I haven't returned anything.
Regarding returning Crossan, I can certainly understand why you did that, but I've always tried to read materials from opposing viewpoints - I even forced myself to read the first Left Behind volume so when criticizing it, I can at least say I read it.

I started to read the preface and prologue and all it did was make me angry because I knew right off where he was going with the book. I read all but the last volume in the Left Behind series. I didn't and won't read "The Glorious Appearing" So I can openly criticize almost the whole series.

I hadn't returned anything either, didn't get a whole lot either. Hubby said he was going to get me a monitor for christmas, I told he better not since he got me a new one last year for christmas. I think I'm going to get me another camcorder though

I got a shirt that was too large and was going to return it, but my mom saw it and said she wanted it...so off it went to her house :) She gave me some of her Christmas candy in exchange LOL

I need to exchange at some point a CD for something else. I had gotten two of the same CD for Christmas.
Other than that there really wasn't much else. :)

Didn't receive many gifts, and nothing to return.
In fact, as I think about it, it has been probably 25-30 years since I returned anything given as a Christmas or birthday gift.
In Christ's love,

I make it easy when buying others gifts? I don't!
I buy gift certificates---eliminates the need to return things. That way they can get what they want.

Tried to return a battery operated saw cause I couldn't get it to work, but found out it was discontinued, so-ooo, I took it back home only to find out that I hadn't set the timer on the battery charger. Now it works fine! :D I felt a little dumb, but the set button was so small I missed it until I saw it in broad daylight. :)

No returns.
There are a couple things I probably would exchange, if I could. My mother-in-law, bless her heart, gave me (another) copy of The Purpose Driven Life. Along with it was the PDL Journal. Also, she gave me another NIV Bible. The Word is never a bad gift. But I would exchange it for a translaion I don't already have, though, if I could. I can't really excange any of them, they were bought in a church auction many months ago. Oh well, I can give the Bible as a gift. I really don't know what to do with the PDL stuff, though.

Throw it on the shelf and break it out when those "So what's so bad about PDL?" threads pop up. :D
I had to return my Count Dooku lightsaber. After only 10 mins of wailing on my kids it died on me. They didn't have a chance. I was so totally winning until then. :(

Put it on your shelf for a couple of years. Occasionally move the book mark from one place to another to let her think you are at least reading it from time to time and then either sell it to a bookseller as used or burn it which is the only way to truly dispose of theological garbage. ;)

True but on some level it shows that you don't care enough about them to find out what they want and give it to them. I admit that there are some people that it is impossible to buy for because they will exchange it anyways. For those people it is only right to give them Gift certificates or cards.
My favorites are the gift cards for Coffee at Caribou (Minnesota's version of Starbucks) or the local Bagel bistro. That way I can have breakfast on their budget and not mine.

I'm part of an online group that does online focus groups and votings, etc...women in the 25-45 age range (I think that is the right number) mostly voted for wanting gift certificates as gifts above anything else :) I was one of those voters. There are things I'd like to pick up that are just stupid to ask for, and I never remember to buy on my own, but a gift certificate allows me to make that purchase and be grateful to the giver at the same time :)

I read them all except the last one too. I got about half way through the last one and couldn't read anymore.
I actually enjoy reading books about other religions. They always interested me, and it does help me to be a better witness.
