Just out of curiosity are there any non-UMC methodists on the board? I have only heard of one such denomination in the U.S. the Free Methodists but I assume there must be more. I know there are many holiness groups but most of them (Nazarene, CCCU etc) are not liturgical.

There's an Independent Methodist Church being built right up the road from us, and I think I saw a Reformed Methodist somewhere in the next town.

Mostly seems to be UMC and Nazarenes here. Some of the largest non UMC denominations in the US would be the historically black ones (African Methodist Episcopal, African Methodist Episcopal zion, Christian Methodist Episcopal) and the Free Methodists, Wesleyan Church, and Evangelical Methodist.

Thanks Aquila I never considered AME or AME Zion.

Until I relocated out of Northeast PA after college, I used to attend a Primitive Methodist church, which are mainly settled in the Northeast region of the country. They are a growing church, but mainly outside of the US.

What distinguishes the Free Methodists from the United? I've always wondered.

I found this on their website, might answer some of your questions.

Many Methodist churches in Asia, Latin America and Africa are not UMC nor British Methodist/Nazarene/Wesleyan/ AME/AMEZ/ Prims.
They are autonomous Methodist Churches who are members of the World Methodist Council and have historical affiliations with UMC or British Methodism. Many of these churches are evangelical and charismatic....and they are growing at much faster rate than UMC churches....
