I just heard from my mom that my dad's in the hospital. We went over on Christmas eve and his heart was skipping a beat every so often and it was pretty scary. Well, he went to the hospital today (which is unusual for him) and they admitted him! He and mom have been together for 34 years (married 33) and after this year taking its toll on his body they're afraid that he's not going to come out. I'm hoping to go up tomorrow if I can figure out how to get there (I live 3 hours away) and mom's going to work first. Please, please, please pray for my family. :cry: :prayer:

Father I ask you to be with this family. You know what a scary time this can be. Please use it to draw this family closer to you. Father use it to get any unsaved family and friends to start thinking about eternity. In Christ's name Amen

Praying for you and your family.... :pray: :prayer:

Verse for you...:

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 KJV)

and notes from my great (5 times) grandfather:

Rom 8:28 -

Another argument to comfort us under the cross, from the benefits of it;

We know that all things, &c. It is not matter of guess only and conjecture, but of certainty and assurance. How is this known?

1. By the testimony of God; the Scripture tells us as much, Psa_128:1,2 Isa 3:10.

2. By our own experience; we are assured of it by the event and effects of all things, both upon ourselves and others.

All things, even sin itself; because from their falls, God’s children arise more humble and careful. Afflictions are chiefly intended; the worst and crossest providences, those things that are evil in themselves, they work for good to the children of God.

Work together; here is their operation, and their co-operation: First, they work together with God. What the apostle says of himself and others in the ministry, 2Co_6:1, that may be said of other things, especially of afflictions; they are workers together with God. Some read the words thus, God co-operates all to good. Again, they work together with us; we ourselves must concur, and be active herein; we must labour and endeavour to get good out of every providence. Once more, they work together amongst themselves, or one with another. Take this or that providence singly, or by itself, and you shall not see the good it doth; but take it in its conjunction and connexion with others, and then you may perceive it. One exemplifies it thus: As in matter of physic, if you take such and such simples alone, they may poison rather than cure; but then take them in their composition, as they are made up by the direction of a skilful physician, and so they prove an excellent medicine.

For good; sometimes for temporal good, Gen_1:20; always for spiritual and eternal good, which is best of all. All occurrences of providence shall serve to bring them nearer to God here, and to heaven hereafter.

According to his purpose: these words are added to show the ground and reason of God’s calling us; which is nothing else but his own purpose and good pleasure; it is not according to our worthiness, but his purpose: see 2Ti_1:9.

Keep the faith...

:cry: My friend, I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles....you are so young, and this kind of thing is very, very hard to deal with. How old is your daddy? Most importantly, does your daddy know Jesus?

Please know that you and your entire family will be in my prayers. Remember to be safe on your trip to get there. I pray that God's will be done with your daddy's health.....because He alone holds the thread of life. Feel free to send me a pm at anytime about anything. :hug: :prayer:

Thank you everyone for your prayers. I'm sorry I wasn't able to give an update sooner but I've been pretty busy with everything. Dad had a triple bypass done on Friday and he is doing really well. They moved him out of ICU 12 hours sooner than originally planned, took his chest tube out a day early, and removed the breathing tube early. He's supposed to be home on Tuesday or Wednesday, as long as things keep going well, and then Mom'll be home with him for the rest of the week. Then the following week I get to stay with him. :doh: To say he's an impatient patient is an understatement (the ICU nurse was ready to strangle him in four hours). So, please continue to keep us in your prayers as it will take about 8 weeks for him to heal.

Thank you! He's doing soo much better now, but one of his lungs had to be collapsed and it's not re-inflating and they keep forgetting he's diabetic so they keep giving him a bunch of sugary foods (his blood sugar was 300 today and it's not supposed to go over 120).
