Hey everyone! Merry CHRISTmas!! I just got back from a wonderful CHRISTmas eve service! We have a tradition at my church where we all light candles and sing "Silent Night." I was wondering, what CHRISTmas traditions your churches have?

The church we went to saturday night does the same thing with the candles. I think a bunch of churches do.

The church I used to go to had a very unique Christmas eve service. Everyone would come in and be silent in the sanctuary with the lights turned down low. The pastor arranged in advance for some people to stand and read scripture, prophesies of the coming of the messiah, words of the angel's announcement, accounts of Christ's birth, with long pauses between for meditating on what had been read. Then the pastor gives a short talk on what it means that the Light of the World was born as a human. Then everyone lights a candle and proceeds out of the sanctuary where the pastor tells us to go into the world and bring news of the Light to all people. The service takes about 2-1/2 hours. It's very special and meaningful.

Our Christmas and Easter traditions are pretty similar. About 1500 people you never saw before in your life show up for Church. ;)
