sure enough they just dropped it off, the turkey and all the trimming. Now i will be honest i never gave the last one away but never used it either, so this one is going to the homeless shelter today......me and the kids are going as soon as i get dressed..... just have no desire to do anything lately....
now the other day came the gifts...... ok we have been struggling but they were not getting much anyway. my husband was telling me about this girl on welfare and asked me if we had clothes from my little one we could give her, i said no i will return what people gave us and just drop it off at her house , it will make me feel useful and make her feel good, her husband died about a yr ago and left her with 2 kids.... so she is far worse then me. oh maybe i will give her the box of food? ok what should i do? homless or her?

God's command was to help. How you do it is up to you. If I were in your situation, I would give it to the lady who's husband passed away. Shelters usually have enough supplies and volunteers, especially around Christmastime when people are feeling guilty about their decadent lifestyles. The family you are talking about probably doesn't have many people to rely on if she's on welfare.

Whatever you do, may you be forever blessed for your compassion and charity.

Can you have the pastor mediate for you. Have him deliver the goods to the lady?

actually thats not a bad idea, she is not from our church, i am not even sure if she believes in the lord, thats where the note was coming in..the only reason i know of her is bc my husband is a letter carrier and he told me about her....unless i have the new letter carrier deliiever it:scratch: hmmmm....
let me see if i can find out more about her, dh was not sure exactly what apt she lived in, so it has to be tomorrow anyway. and i still have returns to do, to get her children gifts....

Just wanted to say that I can only pray that I would have your level of spiritual maturity. You and your family have certainly taken James 1:27 to heart.

I probably would just put a little anonymous note in saying - Have faith, God will provide. Blessed Christmas -And cite Matthew 6:25-34? Your favorite! If you plan to leave anything. But that is what I would do, very rarely do I tell when I give to others, it is more enjoyable for me. But then again, it is always fun watching when they are surprised! :D

Eewww isn't this fun? I just love doing this!

Whenever I feel low or even catch myself worrying (this is my struggle in life), I have found the best thing to do is give to others - somehow the burden is automatically lifted! It is truly better to give than receive! And it keeps my life in perspective. :)

flynmonkie,
i agree, better to give then to recieve, but i also felt at the same time what better way for her to come to Christ? if she has not? than a chursh bulletin with the times of the hloiday shedule? she would not even know who sent what....the mailman will drop it all off today and just say somebody asked me to dropped this off at your house.....the end. i do have to write that note yet can;t forget the food...

Ain't that the truth!!

What i would do is leave an anonymous note mentioning you are doing this as a tangible way of showing Christ's love at this time of giving. I would also leave a bulletin from the church with the name of you pastor and his number (let the pastor know the story and that she may call so it doesn't catch him off guard);)
