Hi,
I've been checking out a Southern Baptist Church in my Hood. And I just wanted to find out a little more about their beliefs.
Where does the Southern Baptist Church Stand on These Issues.
1) Eternal Security - Once Saved Always Saved or Salvation can be lost and or regained
2) Homosexuality
3) Female Preachers/Elders/Deacon
4)Baptism - infant or Believer (This is probably a stupid question)
5) Pre-Marital Sex - Sex outside of Marriage
6) Predestination (Calvinistic Views) - God ordains certain people to Heaven and Certain People to Hell
7) Biblical Grounds for Divorce:
Thanks All I got for now, If I think of more I'll let you know =)
Also Please note, I am looking for the Views from the Church Structure, not your Personal Views (No offense) If a Pastor/Elder/Deacon could answer that would be Great!!

The one thing I can think of to help you is to do a search on the internet on Southern Baptist Churches and find out what their faith and message is. It may have the information your looking for about the church and not individual responses. Try sbc.net...:) Also, if the church you're interested in has a web-site then look into it, they may have their faith message on it.

www.sbc.net (http://www.sbc.net) should tell you what you need to know. I don't believe they cover all of what you asked for, but it should give you so guidelines. I know there are doctrinal differences within any denomination.
Eternal security - Yes
Homosexuality - No
Female preachers - No
Female deacons - I don't know. This may be based on individual SBC churches.
Baptism - Yes, but only for public confession
Pre-Marital Sex - Self-explanatory NO
Election/Predestination - I don't know, maybe based on same as female deacons.
Divorce - Is usually up to the pastor.
A southern baptist may be able to shed more light on this. My uncle is a SBC preacher, but I'm not sure if they are affiliated with the SBC convention.

It's been said that baptists have more flavors than Baskin-Robbins, but most SBC churches seem to agree on these issues.

Most SBC churches believe in OSAS/ES
2) Homosexuality
It's a sin, not a lifestyle.
3) Female Preachers/Elders/Deacon
No preachers. Some churches have women as deacons or other leadership roles, but it is really up to that church.
4)Baptism - infant or Believer (This is probably a stupid question)
Definitely believer baptism
5) Pre-Marital Sex - Sex outside of Marriage
It's a sin.
6) Predestination (Calvinistic Views) - God ordains certain people to Heaven and Certain People to Hell
I'd say about half and half.
7) Biblical Grounds for Divorce:
Adultery

Well that sounds about cool,
I guess I'll talk to the Pastor to get his Take on Predestination.
Really that a large reason of why I'm leaving the PCA
Thank you everyone for your responses!
