has anyone seen the previews to the new show called the "Book of Daniel"?...It appears to be about a Priest (Protestant...I think he's married...and the preview does show him with a female priest so I guess you can say it's protestant)...in the commercial it talks about how his brother took off with the Church funds...how his sister is having "relations" with his ex-wife and various other things...also the Priest himself is hooked on Vicodin, and his daughter is selling drugs...I may have some of the details off a little but this is the basic jist of the show...now all you hear about on tv is how Christianity is being stifled...no manger scenes on public property...no ten commandment in government buildings...and nothing religious on tv...but...you can make fun of the church all you want...this doesn't seem right to me...but if we as Christians complain about it we are "religious wack-os" or that conservative Christian crowd...I am perfectly fine with the consept of if you don't like it change the channel, but if we do that doesn't it seem like the network is getting off with a free shot at us here?...

Theoretically speaking...it is possible that the writers could start with a premise like what you describe and do a wonderful series with the concept of simul iustus et peccator as its underlying theme....
It that probable? Sadly, no.

could they start with a premise like that?...absolutely...
If this was being marketed as a drama that led to that I would have no problem whatsoever...
It's being marketed as a comedy...I think we can see where it's going...
