This must be stopped. Please protest loudly
This has been posted in OBOB but it is something ALL Christians need to be protesting about.
Time to strongly object as well...
Oh my gosh--I can't BELEIVE this was allowed to be on television. (I WILL NOT repeat what was said, but any interested can go to the website and read the news release.) I received this today:
Please pray for a conversion of heart for Denis Leary, the staff, writers for Comedy Central
and for all those who persecute Christians --Jesus and His Church.
Here is the link.
Please read and let your feelings known to the makers at the e mail address at the bottom of the article

I'm not surprised about this. We will be persecuted and mocked, just like Jesus was. I think instead of fighting, we should turn the other cheek, like Jesus did.

I didn't even read the link. We have our television programmed to block out Comedy Central. Personally, I find it difficult to believe any Christian would watch that channel. We're told to obey the commandments in thought and deed and I believe watching the commandments being broken is sin in itself.
Just get rid of the channel and you'll be more content.
God bless.

The humour sucked, but I would hardly call it persecution. It's a guy venting his opinions on what he sees as extremely improbable, and he can't be blamed for that. You could blame him for his lack of tact and respect though. But this was in America, and christians aren't persecuted in America.

A comedian mocks catholic doctrine, and catholics are upset about it. This is newsworthy in some way????

Its just words. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It doesn't shake my faith.
I would be more outraged if people were not allowed to freely express their feelings or beliefs, afterall, as a Christian I am allowed to freely express mine.

Leary is obviously bedeviled by some disorder...
I've seen some of Leary's other stuff before and find myself somewhat inclined to agree. Unfortunately this type of trash is quite typical of the sludge produced by so-called Comedy Central.

Not exactly mocking Catholic Doctrine. He is mocking Christianity as a whole. Some of it is specific to the RCC but I would be surprised if all Christians were not insulted by this. I knew when I saw it in the TV listings not to waste my time watching it.

I'm in agreement with the view from some here that this isn't persecution.
This is someone's opinion, and I feel that he's allowed to voice it.
As said before, if something offends you on the TV, turn it over or off! We as viewers have a choice of what we do and don't want to watch!
Over here in the UK we had a wonderful TV series called Father Ted, which was poking a bit of fun out of the Catholic faith. It was very funny. The actor who played father Ted died, sadly, at a young age and wasn't allowed a Catholic funeral as he appeared in this TV series. That was going too far for me.
I am so thankful that we can have freedom of speech (although a lot of that is being taken away from us, and most of the times without most of us knowing about it).

People making fun of christians are too often spot-on, aren't they?
And half the fun is that christians are usually so uptight.
Take Ned Flanders, for example. I've never seen a more accurate (though he's often, but not always, exaggerated), parody of a christian.
Don't take yourselves so seriously. Realize that we are actually building our entire faith and life on a man who walked the earth 2000 years ago, and we believe He's still alive. It's not surprising that people think it's weird.

Its sad to see someone mock the Holy things of God this way.
Be not decieved,God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
God will have the last laugh. In the time of the end,men will be scoffers, and mockers, walking after thier own ungodly lusts. And some wonder why there is a hell.Hell is the just punishment for the sin of humanity. And those who dont find grace with God,will have an awfull day before them, when they have to stand before the God they trashed.
And they will give a full account of every word spoken, and will recieve the just punishment for their sins. But until then,we must keep our eyes on the cross, because the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
I agree with the ones who said, turn off the TV.

I agree with most of the posting here. Build your foundation on a rock, no river may overtake it. If we are not firm in foundation others views and opinions may disturb us. Small matter dealing with mans opinion.
God Bless.
