View Full Version : Advice on Sunday School

My future-godmother teaches Sunday School before the Liturgy at our parish. They're learning about monasticism and she's asked me to teach that section, probably because I just got back from a month long pilgrimage to a monastery.

These kids are all in the 5-10 years old range and I only have about ten minutes to talk to them. Any suggestions on what I should talk about? Anything I should avoid? I plan on asking my godmom too, but I figure someone with kids here could have some helpful advice too.

Thanks in advance.

Monks and nuns aren't scary just because they dress in all black. They live by prayer. The first monk was Anthony. Read them a good story from a desert Father that they would understand. Show them pictures of monk, nuns, monasteries, etc. Maybe you can all take a field trip to a monastery at the end of the unit!
