OK I have noticed that in all of the churches I have been to they are all either mostly white or mostly black or all white or all black. But why is this?I have noticed more non-denominational churches have more of a mix then babtist, church of christ, methodist to name a few.But why is this?Aren't we all equal in gods eyes? The church I go to is mostly white but we have a few black people in it which I was happy to see when I first started coming to it.It just drives me absolutely insane that it's always either white or black.WHy do you think that it's usally all black or white?

I would suppose it has to do with, rightly or wrongly, the level of comfort one feels in being in a social setting with members of their own race.

But another factor would have to be the locale. In an area with a large concentration of blacks, one would be more likely to find churches that are attended by mostly blacks. And vice versa. I live in an area where the proportionality between blacks and whites is probably lower compared to a lot of urban areas. Blacks attend many of the churches which I have visited, but the proportion is not high.

Still another reason might be the style of worship service. In a sweeping generality, mostly black churches tend to have more vocal and demonstrative congregations and services, whereas, mostly white churches tend to have more reserved congregations and services. There are, of course, exceptions, especially pertaining to denominations.

I think this is the biggest factor.

Here in Houston, we have Chinese churches, Korean churches, Vietnamese churches, Hispanic churches, etc. Most of the differences are language, but worship style also plays a big part.

The church behind my house is a large black church. They have a lot of Christian hip-hop. They sing Amazing Grace for about twenty minutes. That wouldn't fly at my church.

Now, my church is not exclusive, but we have a different style (which includes the occasional rock concert). We have a black preacher who is one of the best preachers I've ever had the privilege of hearing. He speaks directly to the heart. He is our youth minister, but he does preach once a month.

There are cases where prejudice is the case, and this  me to no end. In Christ there is no Jew nor Greek...for we are all one in Christ Jesus. Well, that could just as easily say in Christ there is no white or black.

Well, I'm rambling. I need to get off my soapbox, so bye.

In addition to what may have been mentioned I think you'll find that all Black churches are located in primarily Black neighborhoods and all white churches will be found in primarily all white neighborhoods.
