The most amazing thing has happened to me. It all started last week. My car was repossessed. I combination of poor judgment and bad circumstances put us behind on our payments. Of course, the week we were to go visit my parents for Thanksgiving, the bank called in the ‘ol repo man. The car had been taken from us, along with all of our possessions inside. Things looked bleak.

Then God stepped in. No, our Lord didn’t personally come down from heaven to pay our dept. Instead, in my humble yet faithful mind, he sent others to do the work for him. First, my pastor came by with an armload of Thanksgiving food, to include; A large turkey, apple pie, candy for the kids, and other things that would make for one heck of a feast. He also gave us some of his own money. “ Oh, when you get rich you’ll do the same for someone else,” was his only response when my wife thanked him.

My father sent us some money too. I felt so bad for not being there for him and my step mother. Again, they were alone for Thanksgiving. I pray that next year the Lord gives us safe passage to be with them in their need. My brother also sent money, telling me that I had better not pay it back. It was his Christmas gift given to us early.

The repo place was closed for the holiday. We really didn’t want to be alone for Thanksgiving, just the five of us (My wife, our two kids, our friend Wendell, and myself). St. Mark was going to have a Thanksgiving Potluck, and we wanted to be with our brothers and sisters in Christ in celebration of Thanks. Out junior pastor borrowed an extra car seat from our church president ( ours of course were left in the car), and came to pick up my wife and kids while I rode with my friend to the church. The Thanksgiving meal was great. I was with people who either didn’t have anybody else for Thanksgiving, or loved the people of the church and wanted to spend Thanksgiving with them. It was a very humbling day.

At today’s service, it was just my friend and I. My wife had to stay behind with the kids. I wish hey could have come, the Hanging of the Greens and first Advent service is so well done at St. Mark, and I really wanted the kids to see it. She saw some on the network camera of St. Mark, I’m sure it wasn’t the same. Anyway, during the service, the council presidents wife, who is also our friend, gave me two envelopes. One was my wife’s paycheck (she works as the sexton for the church) and the other contained more money to help us get our car back on Monday. I didn’t know what to say.

After the service the Pastor told me not to think anything less of myself for what happened with the car. I thanked him. The council president’s wife told me the money was given to my family because the church cared deeply for us. I was, AM, overwhelmed. Strait up blown away by the generosity. I’m the sort of man who believes that someone has to work hard to get what they deserve in life. Hard work pays off, and so does faith that God will provide. This experience has made my faith strengthen twice as much as it was before. A part of me is still kicking myself in the rear for letting this happen in the first place, but so less now that I understand that God really does answer prayers.

Thanks for sharing that. Praise be to God for coming to your rescue. It always seems when our faith is weakest or when troubles like this come along that God quickly steps in and recovers us. May you and your family bask in The Lord's Love.

Being that I work in the Auto Loan industry and that I have overseen a repo or two from that end I was very happy to read your story. Repossessions are hard any time of the year let alone a holiday. God alone has sent his angels to take care of the situation.

God bless you and keep you this holiday season.
