I am wondering what keeps all of us from being stagnant or complacient in Christ. What challenges you and keeps you growing? For me it is my involvement in small group bible studies and my pastors firm push to make his congregation strong disciples in Christ. I am wondering, especially from those that choose not to attend a weekly service, how you keep growing?

This is a good question.

I dont attend church. I try read the bible on a everyday basis though. The majority of the time I do. Too answer your question for me it is Jesus that keeps me going. Where would we be without him? What would we have? I couldnt imagine a life without the Lord. I dont attend church because I dont believe in religion. I also get caught between being jewish and christian. If I attend church I end up being dissappointed. So I stay with Christ and worship him 24 hours a day in my heart. Knowing that God manifested himself as man to be before us is what I love. Knowing that is true. I stay true to him. I love the lord with all my heart.

Christ also tells us that we should fellowship with other Christians. How do you do that? Do you have a group of Christian friends? It is very important that you have this for your growth and accountability.

All churches do not claim to be a 'religion'. Our church is JUST Christian and our ONLY authority is the Bible. We are a non-denominational church. WE do not have a religion..CHrist is our religion if you need to put a label on it.

I would say prayer, initiating and maintaining a personal relationship with God.

God Bless.

Lots and lots of prayer - fellowshipping with my Creator and Savior. Without the prayer I turn into a madman.

I attend a non-denominational Bible-based church every week, and as part of Adult Sunday School the Pastor writes up these Parchments. One for every day of the week. They're themed to stewardship of our minds, of our bodies, of the gospel, witnessing, fear, love, devotion, etc. Something different each week. I love reading them and completing them. There are so many pointed and poignant questions and relevant passages. I am a new Christian so they've really helped introduce me to ideas and aspects of the Bible that I don't think I would have discovered otherwise.

This second point is going to be completely different from anything else anyone has posted...I've found that my fears and adversities and the darkest days of my life (which unfortunately I feel trapped in at the moment) have only served to bring me closer to Christ. My bf and I broke up yesterday and what did I spend much of the night doing (after I calmed down and washed my face that is)? I read my Bible. There's a peace and a calm and a comfort there I haven't had in ages or in any other thing. How great is the love of God?! :)

My seperation from the religious institution we call the church.

I second that . However , with me , it is spending time with the Lord wherever I am .

As a new Christian you sure do have your priorities in the RIGHT order! You are doing just as God wants us to do. Look to him for answers. God has the man you are suppose to be with already picked out! Be patient and pray about it. Maybe the next man in your life will be that very one he picked out. I am sorry for you pain. Time truly does heal. As I read this and seen your age I remember feeling the same loss at that age and vividly remembered how painful it was. If only I had God to turn to then it would have been sooo much easier. Keep the faith! God always provides!

"Name one thing that helps you to grow deeper in Christ"

my sinfulness.

it is in my hour of need that I come to know christ on a deeper level, do not be ashamed of your sin, be strong in your weakness be proud in your humility, the devil wants you to sin and we are all sinners but if we use our sinful nature to develope a deeper relationship with christ by our repentance, we have defeated satan - he has completly lost, his only attack is at our weakness but it is also in our weakness we come to know our true need for christ and turn to him with sorrow, humility and sincerity.

For me it is Prayer, Knowing Him personally, and My Band Sanctyfied. This ministry I have keeps me in line. To be able to share the Word of God to the World, and to know how you have to have that right heart to keep going. The energy Of the Holy Spirit, that moves when we play. That's what keeps me going. Sometimes its hard to keep the fellowship going with people. Mainly the ones that don't think your music is a ministry.
But I still attend church and Play in Praise and Worship. That helps alot. Thank you Jesus for the net.

Two things:

1. My marriage to a good and godly woman. The responsibilities to her and our children.

2. My responsibilities as a leader in our church. (Deacon)

This is in addition, of course, to studying Scripture and prayer.

Thats very good! Do you support each other in your Christian walks?? Do you encourage each other to grow spiritually? Do you study God's Word together? These are the things that you really need in your fellowshipping to grow in Christ. If you don't do these things can you start to do some?

LOL Oh yeah in fact I payed extensively long cell phone bills and such because of this. LOL

You know nothing on earth is better than Christ or his message and nothing deserves as much praise as him. In this day and age witnessing is far more important than fellowship alone. I witness countless times a week in random situations. I believe that the church has become so focused on each other and fellowship that it has forgotten witnessing. Im focusing now on understanding that I know where my brothers and sisters are with Christ and my time and others should now focus on spreading the word.

I would agree with the fact that we stay in our own little 'bubble' of christian friends and put ourselves out in the real world a little less. Our pastor always says we need to get a little 'dirty' for Jesus...meaning we need to blend with those who need to know him so we can be a witness to his goodness! God Bless you OnEarth! I pray God brings you great Joy!

Daily submission to God. Each day, I give myself to God. You get saved once. You submit daily. That's the key.

I would say constant prayer in the form of a continual ongoing conversation (which includes much listening) with Yeshuah. This permeates every aspect of my life from reading the Word (a great time to pray), to scrubbing the floor (hey, what better time to pray) . Most of the time I do it silently, but sometimes I do it out loud (sometimes the person in the car next to me thinks I am nuts...grin).

I find it so interesting that the huge number of people who claim to be Christians but don't seek a relationship with God find it strange to pray outside of a building called a church! Or for that matter think about God more than once a week. I, myself, used to put God in a Box. Why do we do this??? I am so thankful for his grace and mercy. He is in my thoughts constantly now! Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ!

I attend church regularly, and I depend alot on the fellowship of my sisters and brothers in Christ. Their testimonies, the lessons in Sunday school, and of course just hearing the Word of God, I personally don't know if I could keep from becoming stagnant with out attending regular worship services. :)

God, our Lord Jesus Christ! He draws me/he calls me... then I would say the trials & tribulations I endure (w/his strength of course) and then the body of christ, my fellow brothers and sisters. I love to get together and fellowship, that really keeps me going and excited!

I feel closest to Christ when I give of myself to someone who is in need of comfort. I have been involved in making quilts from soldiers returning from the war and have such a good feeling from it. Sometimes just a small act of concern can mean so much and let others know you care. Also listening to gospel music is something I also find so uplifting.
