I just wanna ask. Using scripture, can you guys tell me what are some (or all lol) of the attributes of God?

Thank you,

Randy

I don't have time to go through all of them, but a good start is Chapter II of the Westminster Confession of Faith.

You can read it here (http://reformed.org/documents/wcf_with_proofs/index.html?body=/documents/wcf_with_proofs/ch_II.html) with the corresponding Scriptures footnoted at the bottom.

If need be I can post it in its entirety along with the Scripture references at a later time.

For the sake of discussion, my pastor taught me that man has attributes while God has perfections. We can love partially and know things partially, but God does all of these things perfectly.

Interesting. The main thing i was wondering was if Grace was an attribute of God (or better yet, a perfection). My buddy says that grace is NOT an attribute of His because grace is summed up in His love and mercy. But i don't think I really understand this view, for the New Testament talks about grace all over the place. Mind you, this guy is NOT reformed. He's big time against calvinism and the doctrines of the 5 solas (notably grace alone, and faith alone). So... taht's the one quesiton really. Is grace an attribute (or perfection) of God?

For His glory alone,

Randy

Yes it is. It is the grace OF God that leads us toward repentence. Grace (according to the dictionary) is undeserved favor or merit. If you deny the grace of God, you trap yourself into a legalistic effort of your own to become meritorious.

I have been pondering the 5 solas quite a bit lately, working through them and meditating upon them, and have come to the conclusion that one cannot be saved if they deny that the grace of God (etc.) is sufficient to salvation. If this person is denying Biblical truth they have no business accepting Sola Scriptura. They are trapped under Law and will be judged by their works. Whatever you place your trust in is what will be tested by fire. We should pray fervently that this friend's eyes be opened.
