I assume by regular Catholic church you mean the Roman Catholic church. The Roman Catholic Church is a separate denomination and it is under the leadership of the Pope. Anglo-Catholicism is a type of churchmanship found within the Anglican Communion (a group of national churches which evolved from the Church of England).
The Anglican Communion is protestant, so has little to do with the Roman Catholic church, except of course that we are all members of the body of Christ and our core beliefs are compatible with the message of Good News in the bible.

This is an unfortunate assumption.

It is a Church - not a denomination.

The Anglican communion is Anglican, unkless you can't hold anything in your head but Catholic and Protestant - In which case we are certainly Catholic.
We have bishops - it is not some sort of make up your own religion with the Bible deal.

In a Roman Catholic parish the Priest will vest in the Sacristy, and turn towards the Crucifix.
In an Anglo-Catholic parish the Priest will vest in the Sacristy, and turn towards the mirror.

We Anglo-Catholics have the theology of the East, with the worship of 12th century England.

Well, let me put it to you this way, if you wish to eat well convert to Greek Orthodoxy. Their food is as heavenly as it gets. Second place would be the Lutherans. If, on the other hand, you wish to loose weight, boy have I got a church for you!

That's the reason for the sherry -- you don't mind the cucumber sandwiches so much after a belt of Harvey's Bristol Cream.

I've been attending Episcopalian parishes for a couple years now and I'm *still* waiting for my first cucumber sandwich. :) At my parish back on the east coast, I went to several events with food including Alpha, studies on spiritual books, confirmation classes, and so forth and always asked when we were going to have cucumber sandwiches. Most of the time, all I got in response were quizzical looks. Only once did someone get it. :) She literally bowed in a fit of laughter. :)

Please, tell me you are kidding. Cucumber sandwiches, green Jell-o, what next? How much are the children of God to endure? Slavery in Egypt and forty years in the wilderness are starting to sound good.

no way, I know I'm right! Okay, maybe not the green part, but the jello part. Jello is the state food of Utah. Remember the jello pins handed out when the olympics were in SLC?

OKOK I confess I'm not an expert on the culinary practices of Mormons (except for the no-caffeine, no alcohol rubbish) so maybe you're right about Jell-O... NO I was thinking along the lines of Garrison Keillor and Lutherans
100 blessings to you.

All the Mormons I've met have had a great love for Kool-Aid, which I found very amusing. If people had the misconception that my religion was a cult, the last thing I'd drink would be Kool-Aid! Don't get me wrong, I love Mormons, but they need to filter the word down from their Prophet that literally drinking Kool-Aid all the time gives people the wrong impression! :)

Ah, I wonder if our brethren over at OBOB would object less if this was the commonly used interpretation of RCC? :p

They often have uglier vestments and always have worse music, but I am not sure we need to point it out to them. The Pope is aware and working to improve things, specifically the liturgy.

I hope he is! I wandered into a Roman Catholic Church Saturday and was horrified. They priest used the gloria as a processional hymn, skipped over the confession, skipped over the kyrie, ommitted the prayer of the faithful, and kept ad-lipping lengthy comments and jokes throughout the service (At one point, after saying, "You all won't like this reading, but (blah, blah, blah)", he then motioned to the lector and said "Okay, do your thing."). He also did a couple of infant baptisms where he just spinkled water sort of randomly like five times instead of one time for each person of the trinity. Everyone stood for large portions of the mass after the consecration and before the distribution of the host (Which would be acceptable in an Episcopalian parish, but violates the RCC ruberics, if I'm not mistaken) and held hands for the "Our Father" (At least they didn't sing cumbaya). It was also notable that there was not even a place on the pews for a hymnal, a missal, or a bible (Granted, not many RCC parishes have bibles. :)) and there was not a single crucifix or cross to be seen in the entire chuirch (There was a statue of Jesus with his arms raised, but it was covered by a projector screen for most of the service, raised a couple of times briefly. You could kind of see one of his hands from the side and I kept thinking he was try to claw his way out. ;)). Oh, and the mass began with "Say hi to everyone around you" and chatter.
Then about a third of the congregation literally received the Eucharist and walked straight out the back doors. I almost thought that there must have been a fire that I wasn't see! Many of ones who didn't leave at that juncture left during the recessional hymn. I stayed until the end of the hymn and was probably one of only about 33% of folks who did. I almost can't blame them, though. If their own priest doesn't seem to take the liturgy and the sacraments seriously based upon his actions, why should they? The whole thing played like the priest didn't want to be there and didn't care what he was doing and neither did the people in the congregation. It was like he showed up only because he'd be fired if he didn't and they showed up only out of habit or a sense of obligation and skipped out as soon as they felt they had hit "the important parts". How in the world am I supposed to take their claim to be the one true church seriously with antics like these? This was seriously one of the least religious least reverent congregations I've ever seen, and I've been to a Unitarian Universalist service before! That's right, the UUs were more reverent.
What's the point of having bishops and a Pope if they don't crack down on this stuff and make them do things right?????

Wow, John, that is amazing. Unbelievable, and very sad and disappointing.
Nothing left to say, except to pray for that poor congregation.
