Anyone know where I can find Mennonite works? Maybe how the Anabaptists, Mennonites and Baptist relate in terms of theological understanding of the Covenant?

I would suggest you check out the writings of these three:

Pilgram Marpeck
Balthasar Hubmaier
Peter Rideman

These ol' boys are from the 16th century. Hubmaier & Rideman were German (I think) and Marpeck was Swiss. Rideman was Hutterite--one of the lesser known anabaptists.

Google and you may find some of their writings online.

Actually the Baptists were a separate group from the Anabaptists. They started in England and were originally Calvinistic. The Revivals of Finney and others changed much of that.

From what I can tell (and I've been reading up the last couple of weeks), Baptists and Anabaptists as well as the Mennonites were similar in their soteriology. Calvinism became more popular about 20 years after Smyth started the movement in 1609. Smyth latter asked to join the Mennonites, the Mennonites and Baptists worked together at different times up until about 1905.

The Spirit of unity was stronger among the first Anabaptist/Mennonites/Baptists when folks wanted to belong to a distinct Calvinist or Arminian body, then we get the divisions. Much of what is found in the 1689 is a direct 'dipping' of the WCF and doesn't reflect historical Baptist teaching on it's larger scale. Don't get me wrong, Baptists have always been Calvinistic in theology, just not as much as folks think.

I could be wrong and often am, please just take it for what it's worth.

Peace,

SP

I read that too my friend.
Baptists and Anabaptists aren't the same.
As they believe and do things differently.
