I thought the Old Catholics and Anglo-Catholics amongst us might appreciate this vision of the mass, which I found posted elsewhere:

God doesn't "speak" to me personally, and the BVM sure doesn't either.

It seems over sensational to me, and was choked full of way more Marian devotion than I think is proper.

I do however find the Mass to be an emotional and powerful experience.
I do not know why anyone would want to innovate it because they are not getting enough out of it already..

interesting post but I agree with gtsecc that the Eucharist should not be altered because someone is not getting "enough" out of it. Also, although I do some personal Marian devotions I do not think it appropriate for the Eucharistic service because that is supposed to be fully centered on Christ.

Perhaps at the risk of sounding "unconventional" (though I don't think my evagelical friends would think that), I enjoy very intimate communion with Christ and His Mother during my prayer times. No, I have never heard an audible voice or anything, but I don't think it's necessary that we do.

With that said, however, I DO believe that God (and I suppose Mary) can speak directly and audibly to people, for we see that all the time in the Scriptures. Afterall, if Christ can turn bread and wine into himself, can He not audibly speak to people if He so desires?

About the article.... wow! What can I say? It brought me to tears. My heart's cry has always been that people would approach the Holy Mass with fear, trembling, awe, and -- above all -- love and thanksgiving for the God who continually gives Himself for us. We are privy to the greatest miracle in the world, and so many of us make it commonplace. It is not commonplace! This lady's vision is one that should be spread all across the world, for it is a true vision of the importance of the Mass. It is a vision of the immense love Jesus has shown -- and continues to show -- each one of us.

Thank you for this post.

I am continually astonshed that folks can approach it some other way.
I think if folks pay attention, it will reveal itself.

I agree. This pervasive "casualism" and absolute lack of respect for the Catholic faith and the Holy Mass that is so prevalent among Anglicans and Romans alike is appalling.

Church renewal anyone?;)

I agree and worry about the lack of seriousness concerning the sacraments that is evident throughout our own as well as the Roman Catholic communion.
