View Full Version : Has God ever told you to DO something?

Has you felt God tell you to do something? I know that most of us are here are Christians because of His calling on our lives, but I'm asking more about 'special' words from God. For example, you may be walking down the street one day and felt that you needed to give $10 to someone. Or you're at a party and you feel that you need to talk to a particular person.

It often happens. Sometimes it's something trivial, sometomes it's significant and sometimes it's a challenge (something you don't really want to do but know that God wants you to do it).........
Jesus only ever did the things the Father told Him and so should we. To do that, we need to be hearing from God all the time......and it is possible, even though you might think it is difficult.
It's a natural part of being a child of God....

I was having trouble with a coworker. Our boss just called us into his office to try to settle things between us (this man had been gossiping about me). The meeting ended without a resolution, though, and I went back to my desk full of anger and resentment as well as puzzlement. Why did this guy not like me? I wondered. I was praying about it at my desk when God clearly said to me (still, small voice), "Go ask him to lunch." I thought, "Are you kidding, this guy is a pain in the butt. I don't want to have lunch with him!" God said it again, "Go ask him to lunch now." So I got up just as the man was leaving the office and asked him out to lunch the next day.
While we were eating, everthing about this man annoyed me. He talked too much, too loud, and knew everything about everything. I finally got a chance to speak and asked him why he had been gossiping about me. He said that he had heard that I had said some mean things about him, and he was getting revenge. I told him that I never said those things, and told him who really had said them, and the man apologized and said he had suspected that. Our meals came and while we were eating, God said (still, small voice again) that this was the last lunch that man would ever eat. I was stunned! I thought that my anger at him was making me think this, sort of like wishing him dead! I was scared that my brain could be so cruel! Wishing him dead! How awful! What kind of sicko was I anyway?!
The next morning, a coworker called me at home (it was saturday) and said that this man had a massive heart attack at 10 AM and had died at 11.
It was the last lunch he ever ate. He died before lunch.

The Answer
To God be the glory
His name on high
To God be the glory
No reason to cry
God has the answers
We will when we're ready
While on earth we must walk straight and steady
We look away for a moment and then Satan and the Demons step on in
We could run back to God above
And confess to Him and ask for His love
God would welcome us back
if only we'd try
But instead we just sit and cry
We don't understand we don't know why
Nothing works that we try
We don't have the answers
We are not ready
We did not walk straight and steady
Get on the road that leads to Life
Walk away from the anger and strife.
Ask for Jesus to come into your heart
And then from Him don't ever part
Look for guidance
Read the Bible and Pray
And soon you will be on your way
To happiness, to joy, to wonders from above
Your life will be so full of love
Contentment understanding with God at your side
He is the One the Only True Guide.
Love and God Bless. May God always be our guide. This life is too difficult when to walk it alone. With God Comes simplicity, love, happiness, contentment and answers.

Sure, I would call that being "convicted" about something. You're convicted you should greet the newcomer to the church, or you're convicted that you should leave early that day, or something like that....
In direct WORDS? no. :)

LambsLove: I pray that you only have that one such occurrence. It is not comforting to know things.
I do not know if I would say that it is God speaking.
I do not see a purpose in being able to know when someone will have something go wrong. In my case (most of the time)I do not know exactly what will happen only that it is inevitable. I know the level of harm that will happen.
I say nothing.

Most of time, God has less scary things to say. This one was just the most dramatic and undeniable example of God speaking to me.

I do not hear audible voice, but I have had strong urging in my subconscience.
I know it is God usually, because it is thoughts of behavior that I myself in the flesh would not want to do. But the Holy Spirit leads and urges me to do things outside of myself.

Why would it have to be from God?
I am not attacking your beliefs. I am a strong Christian as you are. But this sort of thing happens to me a lot. I do not see why God would want to relay such a message. He would have to be on a hot box to me.
I instead think that for some reason I am "gifted" with the ability to sense the aura around people. It is not much of a gift. I would rather give it back. I am also able to make startling accurate assessments of people that I meet. It is as if I know what they do not wish to expose.
I do not think it is wise to say that God is speaking... unless you are totally certain.

I voted yes, because God did speak to me but not in an audable voice. I was sitting in a church service one night, and we had a Missionary speeking. He was a Missionary to Cambodia, and he asked if anyone felt that God was calling them to something. My brother raised his hand, and as I sat I tried to think of something God may have been calling me to. Suddenly, as if someone had plopped it right in my head, I started thinking about Cuba. Abot the comunisum and things going on in Cuba. Suddenly, I started thinking of becoming a Missionary and going to Cuba. I felt as though God had just called me to be a Missionary to Cuba, but I hadn't heard anything. I didn't kow if it was me, or if it was God. So, I didn't say anything to ANYONE. The rest of the night, I couldn't get my mind off of Cuba. So that Sunday, (it was a Wednesday night that that happened) I went to the alter and asked God to clear thngs up, and if it WAS Him calling me to be a Missionary to tell me so. It was like I saw thease words in color on a chalk board or something, and I read them. "You will be a Missionary and you will win souls for Jesus Christ." It was like I was reading them outloud in my head. It was amazing! I haven't gone to Cuba yet, but I still feel that I will. God will show me the open door.

I've never actually heard God's Voice, but i have felt him telling me to do stuff before...More times then not when im around other christians and were taking turns praying (im not onme to like to pray out loud, im a silent kinda guy) I'll get really nervous and i know that thats God telling me to pray becus God is always testing us by pulling us out of our comfort zone. Other instances when i've had this happen is when i go to talk to certain people. like people i know that arent Christians.

Yes, God has told me to do things. Usually they're just small things, but sometimes they're rather big too. A rather recent big thing was when he told me I should call my pastor up and see if she needed help with the youth group and confirmation class (that was just starting up at the time). In previous years I hadn't really had an interest in doing that. But God told me I should...and I did, and it was great! I'm so glad I listened! :)

wow Lambslove... that's scary, i mean that guy who died afterwards.
yep, God does speak from time to time... sometimes very clear, sometimes not as clear. The very clear bit i remembered when i asked Him to teach me how to pray for this particular individual, i waited a few minutes and one single word echoed in my mind.
There was also a time when i was feeling very anger and annoyed and asked God to take it away, and He did..... He turned it into joy, I've never felt so immensely relieved and happy.

Only a few times, but at least once it was pretty unmistakable. At one point, I asked why He was talking to me, when there are so many people who want reassurance all over. The response? "I like you. You're funny." I guess that works.

God didn't want this man to die with the hurt feelings and anger between us. That's why He urged me to make ammends with him that day, because He knew it would be the last chance before the man was going to die the next day.

I did hear an audiable voice once but really i didn't know what it meant. Said something like "I gave you my life, i gave you my freedom" once i was watching TV.
Still gets to me until this day. My brother never heard it, no one watching tv at the time heard it. Seems like i was the only one who heard it. Gets to me even now. But anyway, God doesn't usually talk to me in an audiable voice (oh how i wish He would! :)). I gets really weird stuff happening sometimes always urging me to stay away from this, keep away from that, do this, give that etc. Usually it isn't direct. Anyway it's just weird. :)

I hear God much, through the Holy Ghost.
Rom9: 1. I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
Rom8:16. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
There are many more references in the bible to support this. It usually starts out as quotes from the bible, and leaves a new convert wondering if it was God. As time goes by with more of these experiences, christians then start to trust that it is God who is speaking to their consciences. Then, Once we start to recognize that it is the Holy Ghost, He starts giving more specific words like, "Go feed so and so", "danger up ahead", "do this or that", etc...
I have also heard God's audible voice a few times. These have been wonderful experiences. I will not say too much in this area, except that we should not expect God or wait for God to speak to us audiblie.

well God spoke to me once and told me to be a missionary and he spoke to me again he said he wanted me to be like a ripple you know if you throw a stone in to a pond the water ripples out from it God told me that i had to be like the middle bit of the ripple his love would be the stone and he would give me his love and then his love would ripple out of me to the rest of the people around me. if you get what i mean. he has spoken to me in very small way before too.

When we get those gut hunches and inner feelings about something, that is God talking to us.

God tends to speak very directly to me. I realize for quite a few people He speaks subtly. But He's well aware how thick-headed I am.
Just recently I had spent roughly 3 weeks in an attempt to decide whether or not to leave a community of friends I'd been with for a year. The environment caused me to sin whenever I stepped into it and I had been wondering if perhaps I could be strong enough to resist that and hopefully help to change the situation to aid others. Bottom line is, I'm not strong enough to do that.
Anyway...I was slowly becoming aware of this, but I was afraid to make the move God had been showing to me. I was putting it off. So this entire day I'm agonizing about it, worrying about it... whatever. I sit down in front of the TV to just sort of drown out my brain and i start to flip through channels. This isn't a normal practice for me. I usually stick to a few channels that I know I like. And that usually stays well away from christian TV channels.
We have about 3 or 4 of them on our satellite and as I was flipping through, for whatever reason, I paused on this particular one. The very first words I heard coming from the television from some evangelist were: "If a situation or group of people cause you to sin... remove yourself from them." And of course he elaborated on this for a good five minutes. I just stared in awe at the television. It seemed pretty direct to me.
I haven't been in that situation or around most of those people since that day. And I feel a lot better because of it. :D

just to state my wimpy little opinion ... :) I don't think God speaks to us in audible words, but He can "lay it on our hearts" to do something. For example, convict us of something we need to change, or lead us to do such and such.... :)

Yes, I sometimes hear God telling me to do things. He burdens us through the heart, and it's not just another thought in the brain. You'll feel it when He lays it upon you. You won't be able to escape it guiltless. ;)

Hi all!
Well, I believe that God definitely communicated to me once.
I moved to Israel in November 1986. That's when I became observant , i.e. orthodox. My dual decision to come to Israel & become orthodox was very sudden. I tell people, half-jokingly, that a bolt of (Divinely-tossed) lightning fell on my head. (My family is not even remotely close to orthodox, not involved in Jewish community at all & rather assimilated.)
I got my BA from GWU in the spring of 1985. I was getting ready to go back to GWU & start working on my MA in the fall of 1985. I quickly realized that if I did that, I'd go stark raving bonkers very quickly. I needed some time off. The Dean was very cool. He gave me a leave of absence for 1 year. I was admitted, but my actual registration was deferred to the fall of 1986.
I worked at my summer job (bartending) in Ocean City, Md. until the restaurant closed for the winter at the end of October. There is nothing more therapeutically head-clearing than being in a bustling seaside resort AFTER Labor Day, when things start winding down. I am convinced that that period helped clear my head & lay the sub-conscious groundwork for my bolt-out-of-the-blue decision. (See Song of Songs 5:2, "I was asleep but my heart was awake.")
For November & half of December, I went back to Pittsburgh & vegetated. Just before Xmas 1985, I went back to DC & crashed with friends till I found a flat (in a group apartment). I then found a job (waiting tables in Falls Church, Va) & figured that I'd work until it was time to go back to class in the fall of 1986.
Or so I thought. I went back to DC one day after Xmas. I still had friends on campus, my bank was there, etc. The corner of 21st St & Pennsylvania Ave. (now a parking lot, Grrrr....) then housed the Circle Theatre, which showed old movies. That day it was showing "Fiddler on the Roof". I saw it once when I was a little kid (parents dragged me). I had time to spare & nothing else to do, so I bought a ticket & went in.
Near the beginning of the film, Tevye the dairyman talks about "tradition." He said: "Because of our traditions, each one of us knows who he is and what God expects him to do." I reeled. That hit me for such a loop; I really went flying. It was like getting hit in the head with a puck. I had never thought about it that way before. I had no clue who I was and that God a) knew I existed, b) cared, and c) actually wanted me to DO something was something utterly, utterly new to me. I was in shock. I watched the rest of the film in a semi-trance & then at the end, after the pogrom, when all the Jews have to leave the village, the old matchmaker comes up to Tevye's wife & tells her that she is going to (the Land of) Israel. WHACK! That was puck-to-the-head #2. I went reeling again. I left the theater in quite a state. I took the Metro back home & decided then and there that I had to become orthodox (keep kosher, study scripture, keep Shabbat, pray regularly, the works, etc., etc,) and come to Israel.
My parents (whom I didn't tell until I had occasion to go back to Pittsburgh in April 1986 for Passover) were absolutely shocked. By then, I had already registered for a special Hebrew-language school here in Israel (where I met my Cape Town-born wife) & sent in a non-refundable deposit. I worked in Falls Church until mid-September. I arrived here in early November.
I have never regretted my decision(s) and never looked back. I believe that God Himself decided that if He had to wait on me to come to Him, He'd probably still be waiting, so He decided to come to me, via the movie "Fiddler on the Roof." (He talked to Moses from a thorn bush, didn't He?) He called to me & I have been answering His call ever since.
Be well!

For sure, many times in the spirit. I get a thought and bolt to a place just in the nick of time for one reason or another. That has happened alot and I know where it came from. I've heard audible voices as well be them God or Angels but it was so. Not like legnthy conversations but a word or two to a thought that had sprung from my mind. Other than that I hear him quietly in my heart when ever I think on the things of his glory.

Yes, God has told me to do something on occasion. He's told me no, i'm not free to move on while listening to a sermon entitled free to move on. He's told me to go and ask forgiveness from a former lover from my college years when I wasn't a Christian. (this was through two sermons at different churches) He's had me go and speak to new people in our church. It's hard to explain, the people just looked like I should go and talk to them. (I sing in the choir, and so can often see new people in the congregation). Mostly it's just me showing up at the right place at the right time to help someone out. (I work at a hospital in security)

Maybe, that guy went home that night, and gave his life the God as a direct result of the meal. - we just don't know. but God has a purpose for telling us things, surely! why would he otherwise? to frighten us? no!
We should eagerly desire the gift of prophecy, not dispise it! Maybe you need to come to God about these things that you foresee, and ask him for their meaning an purpose!
see 1 Corinthians 14. you probably already have. but read it again, at comare your attitude to this gift, as to how it says our should be towards it.
Personally, God speaks to me occasionally, by an impression in my mind and heart, but nothing as major as some of you guys have experienced. I pray God will show me more things though.

We should be eager to desire the gifts of the spirit, and to do with our lives as he wants us to! It's no use just being a christian... you have to "die to yourself" (i.e. give God *everything*!), and only then can God really use you for your complete pupose on this earth! ...and he *wants* to!! If you are praying for him to use you in wonderful ways, but it's bearing no fruit... either it's just not his timing yet.. or there is something that is getting in the way!
Take for instance - I really like my computer. Thats a fact, i like using the internet i like playinggames, chatting to people, running and admining various servers, however i've made the choice that, no matter how hard it would be... if i specifically felt God telling me to sell my computer.. i would! It would be hard, but i'd rather follow Gods plan for my life, than keep my computer and be spiritually dry! The computer, whilst good just doesn't compare to the amount of fun you can get out of seving God wholeheartedly, and doing his will at any cost!

It was July 1987 and I was living in Calgary, Alberta with my son, who was 5 years old at the time.
My mom invited me to go with her to the Calgary Stampede Grandstand show and since I'd never gone before, I happily accepted. We left my son at his daycare, because the show was about 2 hours
long, too much for a little guy!
The show was fantastic and the last event was the famous R.C.M.P. musical ride, which ended at exactly 5 o'clock. The moment the show was over, people started to leave the Grandstand, but my mom and I were sitting and talking about the things we saw. Then I heard a man's voice behind me say: "Phone the daycare". I was surprised by it and thought perhaps it was someone I knew. I turned around to see who it was, but the nearest man was quite a distance from us and the voice had been directly behind me. I saw no one that I knew! I said nothing to my mom and we continued to talk, because she likes to let the crowd clear out first before leaving. Then I heard the voice again! "Phone the daycare!". This time it was more insistent and I was very confused, but I was also starting to get anxious! I asked my mom if she had heard the voice, she hadn't and thought I was just hearing someone talking to a friend, but I knew the voice was talking to me! Once more, VERY insistently the voice gave me the same message right next to my ear! This was something I could no longer ignore! I told my mom that I HAD to phone the daycare, just to be on the safe side, although I didn't have a clue why I should.
There were no public phones nearby, so we were told by an employee where the nearest one was. Now the voice was telling me "You don't have a minute to waste, don't look to the left, or to the right!" "Don't stop to look at any displays, you MUST get to a phone as fast as you can!" We finally saw the phone booth and by this time I was REALLY upset, so much so, that I couldn't get the quarter into the slot fast enough! The daycare teacher answered the phone and I asked her if everything was alright with my son. She said he was fine , so I told her we were leaving immediately and we would be there within 20 minutes.
My mom and I hurried to the daycare, because I still had a sense that something was not right. When we arrived at the daycare, the teacher rushed over to tell me what had happened after our phone conversation. After she hung up the phone, she turned around and saw a woman looking in the window at my son. She had never seen this woman before, yet when she came into the daycare, she said that she was a friend of his mom and was there to pick up him up. The teacher was stunned and explained to her that she had JUST gotten off the phone with me, and that I was on my way. The woman got VERY flustered and said that I must have forgotten the arrangement we had made for her to take him. She insisted she needed to take him, but since I had just called, the teacher would not let him go with her. The woman asked to use the phone and from the other room where it was, the teacher heard her say "They won't let me take him, what do I do?!" Immediately, she ran out of the daycare! I was in a state of shock after she told me the story and yet I knew with all my heart that God had preserved my son! I know that if I had not phoned the daycare, my son would have been gone. We eventually found out the would-be kidnapper was an acquaintance of mine, who had a boyfriend from Kuwait. Apparently, my son would have ended up there as a....I can't even print it. There's ahuge trade in little ones. You get the idea.
The Psalmist's words are true:
"I will lift up my eyes to the hills--
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is your keeper;
The LORD is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.
Psalm 121
Other times I've heard the Lord "prompting" me, but never again with an audible voice. I could tell more stories, but for now I'll tell one more about my other son.
Another time, just a few years ago, we were getting in the car to go to church, when I "heard" a prompt telling me (a thought that you recognize as not your own---"My sheep hear my voice..."). I was told to put my youngest son in the front seat of the car, rather than behind me (his favorite spot). I dismissed it, but again the insistent thought came and then a third time! OK, I put him up front. Ten minutes later, as I turned a corner, a speeding driver behind me slammed into my rear passenger door. Yup, my little guy would have been killed instantly!
Praise the Lord!

I have heard that still small voice many times in my life. A few times I've had dreams. The most recent was just a little over a week ago. I dreamed that I found extra money and gave it to a close friend of mine who is going through a difficult time. The next day, I was sorting through & paying bills and came up in the positive after I got home and checked my wallet. There must have been money in my wallet I didn't know about (happens all the time lol). It was exactly the amount I dreamed of, so I immediately got in my car and went to my friend's house to give it to her.
I believe God still speaks to His people. So often, the problem is that His people are too busy to hear Him.

I have heard from God. Usually however, it is a feeling inside, but sometimes God gives me dreams in my sleep and I am able to understand what he wants me to do.
It is important however, to have dissernment. God would not tell me to do something against His nature. He doesn't tell me to kill people or to break the law for example. (although I'm not saying that He has never told anyone those two things because the Old Testiment is preety scary when it comes to going against other nations and killing etc.)
He told me that I needed to move to Michigan once. I didn't want to move back to Michigan. I liked Tennesee. I loved my church and my job was fulfilling. (I even was able to evangalize at work with no hassels.) But he told me to move in my dreams every night. I had the thought that he wanted me to move frequently throughout the day. I met with my minister about it to make absolutely sure it was from God. (I thought council would help my dissernment.) Even the minister after praying and fasting with me agreed. On February 14th in a phone call to my mother I asked her to send me the classified so I could job hunt back here. She read an ad in the paper that day.
I called the next morning and they asked me to fax a resume. I interviewed over the phone twice... the day of the fax and the next day. They wanted a face to face interview. I took time off from work and drove 10 hours for the interview. They offered me a job telling me that the position originally advertised was filled but they would create a position as I was just what they were looking for.
The day they made an offer I started looking for an apartment. I didn't have saved up money for a move. The apartment I found agreed that I wouldn't have to pay the deposit or first months rent for 30 days. (They were not having a sale, they just felt like helping me move.) The minister called when I got back to Tennesee and they had taken a special collection for me and it was enough to rent a u-Haul trailer. I gave notice at work and they said I didn't need to give them the full two weeks because it was "God's Will". I moved on March 3rd and started the new job on March 6th.
When God tells me to do something, he usually opens the doors so I can follow His will.

I have heard from God so many times!
I have had to literally tell God to leave me alone, because I needed to be at work in 4 or 5 hours. His reply was, "just one more hour, you will be fine, I am God."
And He was right, I went to work with very very little sleep and I was perfectly fine.
I really didn't want God to leave, I was enjoying His revelations that He was showing me.
This has only happened a few times, where God spoke to me for almost the entire night. Usually its for an hour or less.

Yes!
Last year in the middle of the year I woke up at like, 3 am and was told to put together a bible study for the next day for some reason. So I did it, not knowing why because some other kid was supposed to do it the next day.
Turns out he didn't have one ready, so it was a good thing I put one together.
Things like that just don't "happen". Probably the most miraculous part is that I got out of bed at such a rediculous hour, but the rest of it is pretty cool too! ;-)

wow Corbana! That's a great story!
I agree with God placing things in our hearts and minds, however, a few times I have heard very clear messages right before I wake up, almost like i'm halfway asleep and halfway awake. usually uplifting messages like Gods love is coming through you, or have patience, but one time i saw a hole in one, and I heard a loud 'kerplunk' sound, to me it just meant I was about to achieve something I was asking to do the night before.

I voted yes, because "not sure" wasn't a choice! I have had thoughts, inspirations, godly directions through sermons, dreams, mildly obsessive thoughts, etc. These things always fascinate me because it's exactly what I need either to do or know at the moment! For instance, currently I am getting the idea that I should just get off my duff and do it - whatever "it" is (probably missions of some sort)! So, I'm currently working on that. I love reading all your posts, including ones where God keeps you up late! He is so wonderful and exciting!

A few years ago I was in the car with my best friend (Darla). We were headed to a city nearby, but all of a sudden I felt like I should go home (which a minute before , I was wanting to stay out for a little bit longer) . Well I went home, about 5- 10 minutes after she dropped me off at my car. She was hit by a drunk driver and instantly killed (Didn't suffer). If it wasn't for my change of heart and if I hadn't responded like I did to my feeling of needing to go home..... I would of been killed to. Which my other best friend (we all three were best friends, the three stooges) and her had quit talking for a few months (had a fight), but a few days before the accident they made up and my best friend told me she had a feeling after that night they made up, she would never see her (Darla) again. Which that whole situation left me to believe...it was Darla's time to go. I know she is with Jesus, who she loved very much!
Also, I was strongly convicted to quit smoking, believe God was telling me , it was time to give it up! Which.....I tried to ignore the conviction, but it got stronger and stronger (and felt soo guilty everytime I lit up!) I laid my cigerettes down on Sept 22nd 2002, and hadn't picked them up since! Which I know God is the reason I have been able to stay quit  ........

I try daily to keep my ears and heart open so I can hear that still small voice from God. I tried to ignore it a couple of years ago, when I was in the middle of planning my wedding. I wanted to get married, he was a sweet, considerate guy but I just kept hearing this in my mind: "You need to talk to ME about this wedding." I know that God was trying to tell me that this was not the guy for me to marry, and when I did open up and listen to God, I broke of the relationship. It was hard, but I truly believe God guided me through that situation.

I've had a couple of times that I know it was God speaking to me. It was inside my head, but not my own voice. It was like God was just inside my ear with His own voice. One specific time was last winter, and it feels like His voice is burned into my memory.I'm a sigle mom of 3 kids that lives in a poverty-stricken area. When I lost my job that I loved very unexpectedly last Dec, due to budget cuts, I was thrown into a state of panic and was feeling like life was just a no-win situation. I had just rededicated my life to Jesus about 8 months before, and had been experiencing God's love and grace in a special way for the first time in my life. I remember feeling physically ill after the news, and left work. While driving home, I was trying to listen to my christian music, all the while crying uncontrollably. I heard God speak very plainly in my ear, "Trust Me". I thought about it a few moments, and again, I heard, "Trust Me". I knew this was God without a doubt, and the panic somewhat subsided for the moment. Well, ever since then God has had me in a protective box that I can't see out of, except up. I'm learning to trust Him for the first time in my life. Now I'll be starting a new job at the school district where my 3 kids are, in the middle of this month, working with kids as a mentor/tutor.

It was about 3 years ago, that I felt the consent urging of God telling me to go for a medical ck-up. Well, I didn't listen till one day my husband wanted to get some more life insurance and we had to have a physical so the company sent out a tech. who took blood, asked a lot of questions about your well being and took my blood pressure. It was very, very, high off the charts..quite dangerous he said, told me to see a dr. that day.My Dr said,I was very lucky I didn't have a stroke or heart attack. I never had any warning signs. I am convinced the lord saved me that day. Oh yeah,my husband told me to fill out this card to the insurance co. to see about the life insur. He has been asking for months to make out the card and send it,I never did....like i said..God gave me the push to send it in. Thank-you Lord :prayer:

Absolutely, though not in an audible voice.Though He has spoken to me in encouragement or comfort a few times.Once in a church in FL.,while I was reading in Matthew during the sermon.I was reading 6:33 and the words came right out of my bible and I heard a voice say."trust me".I sat there crying for the rest of the service. My wife asked why,and I said,"I think God spoke to me."

I'm fairly sure that God told me which doctor to choose for my last pregnancy. I asked him for a sign and in the waiting room of one doctor, all of the women started randomly telling me what a great doctor he is.
Also, when a friend of mine was going to have an abortion, my husband and I both felt God calling us to offer to adopt the baby. Sadly, she turned us down.
Those are the only two examples I can think of just now.

Yes - I have heard God speaking to me!!!
It is not a loud booming voice, which is unfortunate because then I would never miss it. It is more like a soft whisper that is heard beneath all of the other commotion going on in life.
I do not quite know how to put this into an eloquent description, so you will have to bear with me.
My thought is that the prompting that we receive from God are actually the answers to the prayers of others. How often have you felt the need to say or do something for someone for no particular reason, and later you find out from them that they had been praying or asking God for the exact thing. What a blessing it is for us when to hear that. God will answer prayers, but he has given us the opportunity to be that answer for people and receive the blessing of it at the same time. What an awesome God!!!! You can choose to ignore his prompting. The prayers WILL be answered, but unfortunately it will be by some other method and you will miss out on the blessing that God is trying to give you. I am always fascinated to hear stories of people who felt that God was telling them that they need to go up to someone for a specific reason and say something to them. Their stories are filled with such detail about what they were doing when it happened, what they were wearing, what the weather was like. But when they try and repeat they actual words that they spoke, it is usually similar to :"....and then I said something about how much God loves them or something like that......". This, to me, has always been the true sign that God was speaking through this person. The most important parts of the encounter are the hardest to recall, yet they always remember the superfluous details.

I have felt the lord move on me plenty of times and I have learned not to resist just to do his will. Once for my brothers birthday...no one really had the money to do anything for him, I wanted to do something nice for him but we didnt have the money having moved into a new house...so my husband decided we would just buy some stuff to grill, invite our family and we would deal with the money issue later....the Lord will provide. well i had recently swapped one of my medicines from one drug store to another...we left the store went to pick up my medicine and it was half the price of our normal co pay..we got the money back we had spent.
On a different occasion we tithe really our last bit of money to the church, we felt that the church needed it and it is our duty as a christian to tithe..we were worried how we were going to have enough for my husband to get to his job and make it to church later that week...well we were cooking and just thowing things into a pot..kind of like pot luck...and it was turning out pretty good so i decided to get our recipe box out of the pantry (which we had not used in months)and write everything that we had used down..i opened the box and there was money in it..apparently i had been cleaning and stuck the money in there months earlier when it was located on the kitchen counter...so the lord moved on us to tithe and we did it without hesitation...and he provided for us. Dont deny him when the spirit moves on you...he knows what he is doing.

Ive personaly never heard thunder roll followed by the voice of GOD.
I do however, feel the conviction and influence of the Holy Spirit sub-consciencely constantly. Most times it comes in the form of recalled scriptures that are relevent to the present situation ( which makes sense being that scripture is GOD's revealed word ). Other times it has came in the form of sermons, books, even non-christians at times! Now, whether I listen and obey is another story!
P.S. "Tight_MC"...GOD gives you everything you need constantly, don't worry about gifts you don't have (the Holy Spirit has been given for all believers) but rather seek after HIM and as he feels ready (in HIS wisdom) to bestow other gifts upon you, HE will.

God is always speaking to me - sometimes with clear thoughts, or through Scripture or in song or by listening to someone speak. Sometimes by circumstance. Sometimes through my conscience. Sometimes all of those things together when He really wants to get the point across and I'm unsure I'm hearing Him correctly.
Sometimes when I'm thinking things I shouldn't be (like when I'm upset with someone and having a hard time forgiving) I try to block Him out because I'm not ready to turn the situation over to Him. He persists, though, and I usually can't resist too long.
He told me Easter weekend that I was His precious child over and over again because I was beginning to doubt that I loved Him enough to be considered a "real" Christian, and I finally stopped listening to Satan's lies and believed God.
He is always trying to communicate to us - that's what we're here for!

Yeah, :) Signing yearbooks (kinda silly), but I felt the need to write God bless you, and commit to praying for these friends of mine. I also invited them to church and left my phone number and e-mail address. I also invited one of my teachers to church (scary), but she said, "I don't go to church anymore. I used to when I was young." So I'm praying for her ;). But also my missions trip. It was soo obvious God was speaking to me, wow, and what's weird was he gave me a "warning" message, summer after seventh grade, and then sophomore year, his message became clear. "Go." It was pretty amazing actually, how he prepared everything for me. :)

Yeah of course God has spoken to me. He speaks to me everytime i open His word. But i have also been spoken to in other ways when ive been willing to listen and submit. Last year on my short term mision trip, i was a leader for the older group, the yr9-12 and this girl i had met the previous year had come again .She wasnt saved. We had a really powerful worship night for our team towards then end of it and i was outside, set apart crying. and i felt God really speaking to my heart about the next day. He was telling me about this girl, (her name is Kristy if anyone has it on their heart to pray for her) and how she needed to urgently come to the event tomorrow. He told me "Juleigh, she wont want to(come), she will make excuses to try to get out of it like 'im too tired' and 'i didnt know it was your last day here' and so on. None of the other leades are going to care if she comes or not, because they dont understand how important it is, dont bother trying to explain : its up to you. if she comes, she will hear my word and be saved"
i was like "no, i cant, " i kept making excuses and God just kept saying over and over, "this is what you goota do, this is what you gotta do" anyway the next day sure as the word of God, the other leader who had gone to see if she was coming reported back she wasnt, so i picked up the proverbial slack and went to see her. She gave me the same excuses God told me she would "im too tired, and i didnt know it was ure last day" but i persevered and she came. and she was saved, just as God promised!!
God has given me dreams of smaller things ,he uses visions as well, just small things again, peoples reactions and stuff. He tells me in advance what ppl are thinking at the time (which sounds screwed up, i know, i struggled with it for ages, trying to figure out what i was on about, but its a gift of the spirit) so i can be better equipt for the spiritual war.

im always a bit wary when people say that they have "HEARD"the audible voice of God...cos i myself have not.
but as i am getting older and i am understanding God and his character and in a sense "shyness" -i am beginning to notice the difference between my thoughts, Satan's words...and God's.
God only asks you to trust him-trust that he is there...trust that he is totally in love with you and that he truly does know how many hairs are on your head...and that your prayers dont hit the ceiling and bounce straight back into your heart...
i was really down a while ago..you know how you look at other Christians and think that they have got it all together? that they are more "spiritual" than you...? well, my grandfather told me that believing in God is not an experience...dont seek God to simply prove to yourself that you will hear his voice..he exists quietly...yet with POWER !!!!

I hear that "still small voice" quite often. Most of the time it's warnings, comfortings, small guidance. Sometimes it's downright commandments and stern rememberings especially when I'm doing something I shouldn't.
I've heard a lot of fantastical stories about warnings that saved lives, or quick advice that changed lives. For instance my wife who still struggles mightily with making God her main focus and isn't used to thinking about Him on a regular basis woke up one morning after we had missed church for about 2 years and said "we are going to church today. I've just been told we have to go today and so we're going." Ever since we've been close and we've been faithful. We've missed Sunday meetings here and there but we're more on the path now than ever and I thank the Lord for his quick and powerful message to my wife. The one he'd been so softly speaking to me the whole 2 years we were inactive.
I believe He speaks to us. I know often it's not what we want to hear or it's inconvenient but all things in the Lord's time not ours. So we must humble ourselves and harken unto his "still small voice."

I was driving 20 miles away over a mountain. It's a four lane highway with a passing lane in the middle.
I was driving my New Beetle 2000 and it's got power, but I don't like to drive fast. I was in the right hand lane and a white truck came up behind me in the left--the passing lane. It was a worker-mans truck with high sides and ladders stapped on both sides. It was on an upgrade and a curve. I felt God urging me NOT to let the truck pass me. I argued with the urging. "He's in the passing lane. I don't like to go fast." As the trucks nose crept up to my back fender the urge got stronger and STRONGER. "DO NOT LET THAT TRUCK PASS YOU!"
I literally said, "Oh okay," and stepped on the gas, leaving the truck behind. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw something that just knocked me for a loop! His right side steel extension ladder had somehow gotte lose at the front and flew sideways off his truck--only to be caught by the back strap and drag behind.
Had I let the truck pass the ladder would have come straight across my windshield broken it and probably killed me. That or the airbag would have inflated, and I'd have driven off the mountain. The guy in the truck weaved a bit while stopping finally in the middle lane. He looked shook up too.
I just sang to God and JC the rest of the trip.

Becoming a christian is the first time that you hear God's voice and calling, wooing you to come to Him. This is the first time most of us begin to hear from God. This is a beginning and should be listened to so that we can grow in His will and way. Jesus said that His sheep know His voice and another they would not follow. You can know God's voice if it is the same voice that called you to him and if what that voice is saying lines up with His words written for us in the Bible.
There are voices that are not of God but these will lead you astray. Recently I was around a lot of people in a church that always said God told me thus and so. It got to be so common place that my spirit began to tell me that something was wrong. Finally when these people began to say things that caused confusion, division and differnt things the church began to crumble and now is now more. These people were indeed hearing voices but God's voice will not lead to this type of ending. We can say that God told us something to try to get our own way and this is literally taking God's name in vain. Cursing is not the only way to take God's name in vain. Unfortunately many people that are saying that God told them something are just taking God's name in vain. We have to know and listen to God's real voice within our lives so that we will not be lead astray by these. Knowing God's voice is one of the 101 level things we must know as a new christian other wise we may be deceived like most of those at my old church were.

Yeah He has, like when he tells me to talk to people about the bible. But I can't explain myself very clearly and so I sound so dumb that I think I am making things worst that I be quiet b/c I lost that trust in him like I should. That is my definately weakness and I need to learn how to talk to people and teach the word. :(

I almost said I hear voices in my head all the time but that's a whole different story. :o
Seriously, I cannot count the numerous times I have distinctly heard God's voice (well, okay, the voice of the Holy Spirit). Many times, however, I have only known I was following God's voice after the fact - at the time, it just seemed "the thing to do".

Has you felt God tell you to do something? I know that most of us are here as Christians because of His calling on our lives, but I'm asking more about 'special' words from God. For example, you may be walking down the street one day and felt that you needed to give $10 to someone. Or you're at a party and you feel that you need to talk to a particular person.
Yes, most definately. It's not an audible voice, it's more an 'urging' of the heart. Ever 'hear' a booming 'Go!' from God in your heart? It's compelling.
By the way, what in the tarnation is ? :P

Yes, the Spirit sometimes talks to me, but not in words...in feelings and thoughts.
I pray for the very ill, as I used to be. Earlier in the year I was asking for a healing and I passed on a message that the sick one would be OK. Well, this was the gist of it, but I was told to deliver the message precisely and completely. And you had better know that I did that just as told. The full message was that the person's worst illness was going to be eliminated, but not all their illnesses and they would continue to be upheld. This is all I can now remember but it sure taught me a lesson! And what the mesage said would happen, the healing, did happen within two days of the messge being delivered.
I explained to the sick person what I had done wrong, and how I see things in a global way but I am learning to give these messages as I am told.
I pray for the blessings of the Lord to be with each of you.

Two nights ago I dreamt of an old friend who has always been there for me for help. I dreamt that he was using drugs and in a lot of pain. Yesterday morning I rang him (I hadnt spoken to him in about a month). I told him, we joked about it, he said "stop dreaming about me mate". I asked him, and he said he was doing a bit of drugs here and there recently. I rang him again yesterday afternoon and "wham" he was off his face big time, at work, work hours... Completely different person... Using drugs on work hours means that he has it out of control already and probably indeed in pain. I was heartbroken and still am, I want to help him but have no idea what to do... :(
I don't know if that was God telling me he needs my help... He is also a Christian by the way... :(

One time i got mad because my step mom told me to wear something and i was getting mad saying to myself that i look like an idiot and i heard Jesus clearly say "Shut up, think about what i did for you...hanging on a cross and being beatin and hung up on a cross naked. i looked like the idiot for you, so just where the clothes."

Since Christ came into my life as Lord and Savior, there have been quite afew times when He has whispered someones name in my ear or laid upon my heart some place that He wanted me to be. But, I must confess that I have not always been responsive to His call. It is those times that I truly regret. For once those opportunities are gone, they are lost to you, along with any blessing that God may have given you. But, the times when I have rapidly responded have never failed to bring joy to my heart. Pray for me that I will grow to always be a rapid responder to God's voice.

I've never had a voice speak to me, although I think that would be kind of freaky. Perhaps that is why God does not communicate with me like that! I think God communicates with me in other ways- causing doors to open, giving me peace about decisions, etc.

I had been craving Chinese food for about a week, so I finally decided to give in and go at it. I left work at lunch in a rush to get there so I could get to the park and enjoy my meal. Well, I stopped at a red light while the steamy aroma from the bag tickled my nose and my stomach grumbled loudly. I had gotten the works...sweet and sour chicken, shrimp fried rice, an egg roll, and a bowl of egg drop soup. I couldn't wait until I got to the park!!!! Suddenly, my eyes fell on a homeless man standing not too far from my car holding a sign asking for food. I immediately felt God's presence and heard 'Give it away." I knew what I had to do. I rolled down the window, handed the greasy bag through the window. I told him that Jesus loves him and has a plan for his life. After receiving a very sincere thank you, I drove away. The hunger that I felt was suddenly gone and I felt like I had eaten a full course meal!

In 2000, God told me to open an herb store. I know God has a sense of humor, but to me this was not so funny, because I didn't know the first thing about herbs. But I also know that when you obey God, He will equip you to do that which he has asked you to do. So I did it. I have never been so completely satisfied in my work as I have been as an herb specialist. I did open the store, but after 2 years moved it into my home and work by appointment on a one on one basis. I like that so much better. But I love helping people get healthy naturally.

Yes, I hear God speaking to me in every situation I can think of throughout the day. That's what having a relationship with him is all about! How borring and frustrating is it when we have a friend who only listens and never tells us anything in return! I love my best friend...the Lord Jesus Christ! I love how he guides me whenever I ask (altho I don't always trust enough to follow:sigh: ) And I love how he guides me even when I don't ask! I very often feel I must follow what I feel he is telling me to do, even if I don't see the need. (Why do I have to say those EXACT words to that man in the next pew for instance?) But I so do try to trust that God has reasons for whatever he tells me to do.
One of the best stories I have about God's leading me is when I was 17 and about to go off to college. I had given my life to Him 2 years before. I was reading my Bible one night and felt the Lord calling me through His Word to be baptized. Now mind you, I had never seen a baptism done before, and never even really heard of one! I asked my pastor if he ever baptized people and he got really excited about the idea of doing one...hadn't done one in years in my small little community church! Well he got some others interested as well and a couple of weeks later the whole church (all 60 some of us!) went up on the mountain to a pond he knew of and were baptized!
A story that just happened today was that I prayed with some other ladies in the church (a large church I'm involved in now by the way) over a group of ladies as a mentoring ministry to see who God would have us pair up. We prayed for about 2 hours asking God to direct us and TELL us whom should be paired with whom. We were very excited at the end of our prayer time because we truely believe that God spoke to us during that time and we look forward to the relationships he is going to build through that ministry.
So, do I believe I hear God speak to me? ABSOLUTELY!!! Have there been times when I've ignored it? Yup, and things haven't worked out as well because of it. You would think I would learn my lesson wouldn't you? But we can just be so stuborn and fearful at times can't we?

Sometimes when I pray, I hear an answer, which is not always what I want to hear, and it is often in the form of a question. For instance, when I was going through a period of depression, I asked "Why should I believe in you God?" the answer I got was "Why should you not believe in Me?" and then I was reminded of all of the things that God had obviously done for me. I felt rather silly. :P
The other thing that I notice sometimes is that I say exactly the right thing at the right time for people, but I don't really know why I said what I said, or often even why I would have thought of saying it... if that makes sense. I get "Oh, that makes perfect sense," and similar things a lot... all I can do is shrug. :P

Also...I believe God can speak to you through a voice. After all, that happened to Joan of Arc. I believe I can sometimes hear someone say my name. For example, convict us of something we need to change, or lead us to do such and such.... :)God can speak to us in a audible words but you haft to have the Holy Spirit
and the Gifts of the spirit working.
If you have the holy spirit God then can speak into your spirit not your mind
though satan speaks into our mind thats why i dont run with everything my

The stories here are just sooo amazing! Wow!
I hear God speaking to me all the time, not audibly, but in my conscience and heart. He asks me to do little, but very meaningful things, here and there.
Major things:
I was brought up Catholic, but then left the Catholic Church to join Protestant churches for 15 years. In 2000, my husband and I were going through an extremely difficult time. We had stopped going to church altogether because we were so mentally exhausted and had no idea what God wanted.
On Sundays, I would take looong walks, alone, in a nearby park (a beautiful park). I would converse with God asking Him what He wanted and why all this was going on. During one of those walks, I received a very strong conviction and heard God speaking to my heart "Hey Caroline! Have you ever thought about doing some research on the faith of your upbringing? Have you ever thought about reading up on Catholicism and its origins? I want you to do some research on Catholicism and I want you to go back to the Catholic Church. You will be very blessed." I was so surprised! Of all churches, I never thought about going to the Catholic Church!
I obeyed and did some extensive research on Catholicism. Became very surprised by what I was discovering and cried with joy. I started going to Mass the Sunday after I lead back to the Catholic Church by the Lord. I never felt sooo moved during Liturgy! I cried during the whole Mass!
I thought that my husband would never be interested to go back to the Catholic Church. He was Evangelical. But 2 months later, he really wanted to go back to the Catholic Church! We've been Catholic reverts ever since.
(Now this is my testimony on how God lead my husband and I back to the Catholic Church. We were lead, in the past, to Protestant Churches as this is where the Lord really wanted us at the time)

A few months ago, my Parish was looking for people to help out at Children's Mass. As time went on, I kept hearing the Lord speaking to my heart: "I want you to join the Children's Mass team. Call at the rectory and offer your name. Go! Go witness to the little children about Me and My Son!" I kept hearing that over and over again. Well, one day, after having served Mass (along with my hubby - hubby and I are both lecturers and serve Mass once a month) I spoke to my parish priest (pastor) and I let him know my desire. My belief is when you feel conviction about something, that is the holy spirit, which most assuredly comes from God. However, the spirit of conviction I have felt is about something I have either directly seen, heard, or done. God most definitely can and does speak to whomever he wishes. The only proof you need to believe such, is within your faith in Him.

Wow, the responses are amazing.
God told me, through the Holy Spirit to change, because "Now is the time for the Harvest." He also told me to feed people, I went to the grocery store and stocked up the pantry, but I believe He ment spiritual food!
I was suffering from tremendous depression at the time and God told me He loved me, and always had loved me, and that He was there when I prayed my first prayer, WOW, that's awesome. He also told me that He was giving me Eternal Life, but that I had to learn to live it HIS Way!
I have also been told to Love my husband, and to be patient with him, and to suffer for doing right, not wrong!
The last thing I heard was "Love does not consider itself" (in a relationship)
I like that.

Sometimes it's an audible voice, although I personally have never experienced that. Sometimes it's a song on the radio, or picture on a billboard or the way that the wind blows against your face. God may not be in every minute detail of life, but He is in a lot of them. And when He is, you know.

i woke up one morning and i felt prompted to pray for a bloke in the church i was attending at the time, i was a new Christian and prayed that if he was not a Christian then he would give his life to God. It turned out though when i spoke to the pastor about him that he was one of the elders and did no Jesus of course LOL - the pastor asked him what he had been doing that morning when i felt led to pray for him and it turned out that he was due to go on a long train journey and it was around the time of one of the train crash's, but there was no accident that day so maybe the prayer prevented another happening, only God knows the answer to that one :) ;) :D  :P   :amen:   :preach: :prayer: :groupray:

Has you felt God tell you to do something? I know that most of us are here as Christians because of His calling on our lives, but I'm asking more about 'special' words from God. For example, you may be walking down the street one day and felt that you needed to give $10 to someone. Or you're at a party and you feel that you need to talk to a particular person.
Yes, there are a lot of times God will tell me something by suddenly giving me ideas...He is so great!

God has guided me on many decisions of my life! there was one time i will always remember and that was whether i should dump my boyfriend or not  because he was making me so upset in everything he did. i just thought i loved him and i would not get no one else again so i couldn't leave him :( i just felt god gave me that push and strength i needed to dump him and carry on my life without him. God also said to me that he would protect me and make me happier then my bf at the time could ever make me and he kept his promise because since i got rid of my bf my life changed completely and i was a Totally happier person!:D
I always thank God for that night! As this ex boyfriend of mine has built up a bad reputation for himself and i dread to think what my future would have been like:sigh: as i strongly believe without go di wouldn't have been strong enough to just go . i tried to stay friends with this guy he just didn't want to know.
but thanks to god my life has got better :amen:

I have been told to do a few things for some reason finding this site was one of them, as I type I want to leave and play video games, although the more I want to the more I am told to stay. I believe this is because someone somewhere will be needing to see what I have to say at exactly the right moment. Or maybe it is because by following what I am told it will prevent something from happening to me that awaits when I leave. I never understand why I am told to do things, I just find that things in life work out better for me when I follow what I am told. And no, it does not happen in the form of a physical voice in my head, it is as you said, a gut instinct which alot of non-christians percieve as intuition. On one last note, it is not something you should be scared by, rather you should be glad and follow as it will happen more and more, which will end up gauranteed to lead you in th right direction.

Not in direct words of course, but I get urges through my subconscious that I turn into words sometimes. God is my conscience, my muse, and my reason for living ^_^.

Yes God does tell me to do things. And when I'm "listening" and obey - I never regret doing what He prompts me to do!

Yes, God speaks to me sometimes. I think If I would listen better, He would speak to me even more! He saved our marriage by pointing out to me that I needed to show my wife respect. He drove that word into my skull as she & I sat there talking about how we were going to work our divorce. 6 years later, we are still together, and have a better relationship than ever!
He also got me into a networking business that has been nothing but great for my life. He is a big part of the team I am on, and it shows.
There have been others as well, and I look forward to the next conversation! :prayer:

God is telling me and everyone what they need to do. Where is His voice? His voice echoes from the words in the bible. His voice is closer than you think so do not search no further. And it is the truth that is in our hearts that is His voice telling us to do good. Open your heart and heed his words!

^ That's fine, but sometimes his voice is more tangible that just the written text in the Bible as well. The Bible lays out the principles for success in our lives. More direct conversation will be almost audible - and sometimes the 2 blend. Sometimes we read something, and God speaks to our mind, saying "did you get that? See how that applies to...?" Those conversations are thrilling!

Definitely!! God has done the exact thing with me HEAPS!! Unfortunately, i sometimes disregard things he says...usually because i am scared to do things. I mean, talking to people i don't know, giving things to people i don't know...i am generally shy around strangers.

Sometimes it's fear. Sometimes it's just that we aren't listening. I know a few years ago, my wife and I did not have a good marriage. It's not that we weren't trying. But there were a lot of areas that I was letting her down. And she kept trying to tell me what I needed to do to help the situation. So I ran from fire to fire trying to put them out and get our relationship on track, but it seemed to her that the problem just persisted. Finally the night we sat down to discuss the divorce (we were both ready for this at that point), God knocked me on the head and said quite audibly "Show her respect." That addressed each of the little fires I'd been trying to attend to, and some I hadn't even noticed yet! I know he'd been trying to point out this little tip to me for years, but I hadn't been listening. Finally, in the last minute, he just yelled it in my ear to get my attention! ^_^ Our relationship hasn't been the same since! We now have a better marriage than I ever thought we could have, and are coming up on our 13 year anniversary! Thank God! :crossrc:

I'm from Sydney & I was in Surfers Paradise (Gold Coast/Australia) a couple of weekends ago. Here is a strange thing that happened to me.
Bit of background, I've been in doubt of denominations, I've been researching the Roman Catholic Church. I currently go to an Anglican Church where I am very happy & comfortable but I was thinking maybe Roman Catholic might be for me for some reason.
Anyway, on our first night at the hotel at surfers, I had a vivid dream. You know the ones, the dream that you easily remember as soon as you wake up.
In my dream I was led to the bottom of a rainbow and I was told "what you are looking for is here". I was in the middle of a green meadow, nothing around but the rainbow poiting directly at me. I was looking around saying "what's here? there is nothing here, what am I looking for?"
That morning I remembered the dream but thought nothing of it.
I walked out the hotel a few minutes later only to see a rainbow, with the bottom of the rainbow pointing directly at the Cross on an Anglican Church across the street.
Just to add clarification: I don't see it as Anglican being better than others, I just interpreted that as "We are all one family in Christ & there is no need to go searching for another Church when I'm happy in this one".

many times God has told me to do or say something. I havent ever heard him audibly, though i know more than one person who has. But i do hear him in my spirit. Sometimes the things he asks me to do make no sense to me..till after the fact when i can look back and have all the facts..then the little light bulb goes off..ding ding ding...THATS WHY he told me to do that!! Like purchasing my parents home! I wanted a home somewhere else with a hottub and a fireplace, but little did i know when God told me to purchase my parents home instead that there was tons of reasons they couldnt have sold the house to someone else and would have been stuck there. it is such a long story. But in the end it was completely apparent WHY God told me to do this!

Yup. God told me to move across country........twice even. And I believe he's telling me to do it again. He apparently doesn't want me and my family to get too comfortable with any one place.

God has told me several things that I'm supposed to do. I have to stay strong through a hard time that's coming up. I'm supposed to know that God loves me no matter what and I know that I'm going to be a missionary to Israel and witness to the Jewish people. I'm also supposed to set a Christian example at my school. I have many mission fields. So yes God has told me to do some things.
