I thought I'd let you know that Peter Jensen is going to be giving 6 weeks of talks on ABC's Radio National - the Boyer Lectures. They start this Sunday at 5pm, and will be repeated on Tuesday at 1pm. They will be broadcast over the internet if you are interested, and I believe will be downloadable afterwards also.

Here is a link to the syndey anglican site which will link to the talks.

I thought those of you who haven't heard him speak might find it interesting.

Also pray for these talks, that many who aren't christian will hear them, and that wide public discussion might be generated so that many christian conversations can be had, and that people may be brought to christ. Even if you don't agree with everything he has to say on every matter, he speaks well, and speaks the truth of christ, so it is great that that message will go out to our nation.

Thanks for letting us know, Erin! I would like to have a look at the talks in the PDF format, which they say will be available at the completion of the talks.

So how much of this will be going on about how women should not be ordained do you suppose?

I'd be surprised if it's even mentioned - it's not something he goes on about. In fact I have never heard him initiate teaching on it... no wait - maybe a small mention in doctrine lectures at college - that was a years' worth of lectures.

His main agenda is most definitely not, and never has been, that of women's ordination. This is a man who is passionate about the spread of the gospel. If you look at the topics you might notice the common theme is Jesus. If Peter is looking to incite controversy he will use Jesus to do it, not women's ordination.

Can't see why he would - it isn't an issue in his diocese (they aren't) or most others (they are).

Hopefully he'll have the sense to stay away from anything divisive, and yet present something with some meat to it.

I don't think he'll be trying to be divisive. I think he'll be trying to make the non-christian talk with the christian, not the christian argue with the christian.

I just found out my very non-christian step mother listens to these lectures every year - I imagine my dad must too. What a great opportunity for discussion with them!

That is great! I hope it leads to some really good communication between you all. :)

Yeah, they've been advertising these lectures at my church for the past couple of weeks... I doubt however that the lectures will attract the attention of my demographic... Radio National is generally pitched at the more 'mature' and 'informed' members of society... though I imagine for those who listen to Radio national (the timming of the lectures is actually quite favourable, so there should quite a sizeable audience), it would provoke some serious consideration of the bibles application to their life and subsequently their relationship with God... Im going to try and tune in to a couple, though Im finding time to be an increasingly rare comodity, as probably shown by my prolonged absence from these boards....
