View Full Version : Lessons our children teach us

My youngest son is 5 and we're still :doh:working at potting training this kid. I have him on his back changing another one and I try to reason to him. I say "You aren't even trying. You know what to do you why can't you just try?". Sometimes he sticks his fingers in his ears and sometimes he just looks away and sometimes he just ignores me.

God talks to me while I commit sin. He speaks and say says "You aren't even trying. You know what to do why can't you just try?"

There have been many occasions where the words I say to my children later come back to me as words from the Father. Sometimes they are verbatim.

I am so thankful that God is a better Father than I am and be glad you have a Father that isn't like me (or you, or you, or you).

How true. I've never had children, but the Lord has used my dogs to teach me quite a few things about my relationship with Him. ;)

As a parent I will give things to my boys. I know they like what they get but they don't say "thank you" very often. Sometimes I will even prompt them. It is then that I remember my own shortcomings.

God gives me everything and I don't say "thank you" very often. Cultivating gratitude is work in an abundant world. Things taken for granted are not appreciated. God prompts me via the Spirit but I want to be grateful and thankful without that.

We need to remember that God gives us the things that we need to have.
Even though we don't understand or don't turn out the way we want them to turn out.
God gives us those things for reasons only known by Him.
