Isaiah 53:6 NIV
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

John 10:11 NIV
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

The question I want to ask, is that if you had been the only poor little lost sheep, do you think Jesus would have come here and died for you?

Luke 15:4 NIV "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?

I believe within this scripture Jesus is saying yes. The little lost sheep is precious to him. You are precious to him. If you were the only person he would have come for you and carried out the work until it was accomplished.

Yes, if you, or I had been the only person on earth, Jesus would have died for you, or me.

Yes, I do think he would have come for just me... That was a great question. It makes you think of just how special each of us are to him.

Most seem to see that Scripture applying to the non-Christian, I see it as applying to someone that is Christian that has left the Christian walk for one reason or another. But Jesus promises that he will not leave Christians by themselves or to themselves once they are his.

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

John 14:16-18 "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."

John 6:39,40 "And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

He is the Good Shepherd that is able to guard us, even from ourselves, until he has accomplished everything. That is very comforting to know.

I also liked your post about the prodigal son, lismore.
