I'm getting baptised this month...so excited...yet a little scared. Is that normal. I look forward to publicly displaying my faith in the Lord. Yet at times I'm scared that I will fall flat on my face and mess everything up...I'm praying for the best

SO IT'S YOUR FAULT!! I WONDERED WHY I COULDN'T GET ANY HELP UP THERE. YOU HAD ALL OF HEAVEN REJOICING FOR YOU, AND TOO BUSY PARTYING TO HELP ME...LOL
CONSIDER THESE DAYS THE GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU EVER MADE! READ YOUR BIBLE CONTINUOUSLY ESPECIALLY THE NEW TESTAMENT. IT WILL BE STRANGE BUT PRAY EVERY DAY DONT WORRY HOW JUST FROM THE HEART. tHE QUICKER YOU LEARN SCRIPTURE FROM GOD THE LESS MAN WILL DECEIVE YOU WITH. IGNORE THEORIES JUST KEEP READING UNTIL YOU FEEL CONFIDENT WITH ISSUES.. MANY ISSUES AREN'T WORTH GETTING EXASPERATED IN NOW. CONCENTRATE ON REMOVING SIN,READING,PRAYING, AND DONT LET SATAN FOOL YOU IN TO THINKING YOUR NOT SAVED...AND YOUR SINS WERE FORGIVEN ON THE CROSS SO DONT YOU WORRY ABOUT YESTERDAY...I'D SUGGEST YOU READ THE NEW TESTAMENT AT LEAST 4 TIMES WITHIN NEXT 4 MONTHS, YOU'LL BE LESS CONFUSED ON THINGS, PRAY CONTINUALLY FOR:MORE FAITH,WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING,STRENGTH..DONT FORGET TO FORGIVE OTHERS WHO'VE SINNED AGAINST YOU, NOT FORGIVING WILL STUNT YOUR GROWTH......GOD BLESS YOU!!!! I ASK THE LORD NOW TO ENCOURAGE YOU AND TO GREATLY INCREASE YOUR WISDOM, I HOPE OTHERS WILL FOLLOW..

Congrats on your desicion to for Christ and desire to follow him in baptism. Yes it is normal to have these feelings. Just pray often and stay in the Word. Baptism is a beautiful thing to experience. After you leave the tank you will feel refreshed and strive more to live for him. And rest asured that He is with you each step of the way. As far as the actual baptism goes, just relax and let the Holy Spirit do its thing. Please let us know how it turns out.

Congratulations on accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
I was a little nervous when I got baptized.. We did ours in a lake and I kept having this flash that when i went down to be baptized I would trip the pastor.. Of course that didnt happen..
I was also scared that I wouldn't be what God would want me to be, well I quickly learned that we all fall short.
Praise the Lord There is a new name written down in Glory!!!

TO THE FAMILY
OF GOD, FRIEND

FALL ON YOUR FACE? WELL, ALL RIGHT, BUT YOU'RE NOT ALONE...
OUR BEST FRIEND STUCK HIS WHOLE LEG OUT OF THE WATER ON T.V.,
AND MY HUSBAND IS SO BIG THAT HE STARTED FLOATING OFF
WHEN HE WAS BAPTIZED IN THE ATLANTIC OCEAN.
TOOK TWO MEN TO "REEL" HIM IN.

ALOHA IN JESUS

Phil 1:6
6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Hello cnkk44 and might I welcome you to the family of Christ. Let me assure you that there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. Failure, as a human being, is inevitable. However, failure should be looked upon as something to learn from, not something to be dreaded. Might I also encourage you to never lose your fire for Christ. I myself am testimony as to how easy it is to lose that fire. I have faith that you will be able to keep that burning fire and that Christ will use you to do many great things in your lifetime all for His glory!:amen:

Again, welcome to the family and I am glad to have you:)

We all fall short of the Glory of God. You will do fine and just fine.

I have been a failure (over and over) and I used to allow the devil to create fear and doubt in my mind- which gave me a distorted, untrue, unrealistic view of what God wanted from me and made full committment a scare. Little by little he lead me out of my ability to be a full-fledged Christian...

Don't expect failure... expect that you ARE the righteousness of Christ! :D The best way, I believe, to avoid being lead astray, is to learn what the Bible says you are in Christ and to cast out evil thoughts of fear and doubt. This may seem extreme or wild to some people, but for the first few weeks of studying... I would cast out every negative thought (rebuking my own, personal issues, and the devil's lies- even if I didn't know where they came from)... then, I'd sit and focus on God- and I wouldn't dwell on anything or try to fix it-- God can ease your mind! He will help you succeed! '

The advice everyone is giving you will be helpful... STAY IN THE WORD!! I found these books and they have helped me:

The Bible-(imagine that! haha) I love the Life Application Study Bible!
The Release of The Spirit- Watchman Nee
The Purpose Driven Life- Rick Warren

I also keep, in my house and car...

Joyce Meyer CD's... Creflo Dollar...

They can all be helpful, but seek your own revelations and direction through the Holy Spirit and through the Bible and fellowship with other Christians! The Holy Spirit will confirm to you what is right and True.

Congrats to everyone who is getting baptised! May God bless you all with strength and endurance! Don't be afraid of making a mistake, just get back up knowing that God is ready to dust you off and move you to a new level when you get back!

I remember when I got baptized. It was December 12, 1982 inside a church bapistry.
Like to froze to death when it was over. But then I wanted to do it every Sunday.

It is an experience.
