I have a video of a liturgy which I want to copy to DVD.
I need permission from the parish that made the video.
Can anyone call them and find out if they have it on DVD or will they give the VHS owners permission to convert it?
The parish's phone number is 020 7229 0487

I can give it a try tomorrow. Can you give me more information about the liturgy, the video, the parish name, etc?

You shouldn't need permission as long as you aren't going to sell it or charge people to watch it or anything like that. Putting it on DVD is just making a back up copy of something you already own and that isn't against copyright laws. :)

It is a video they put out in the 80's.
The name of the parish matches, and the altar I can see on their web site is the same.
It was a Latin mass, Tridentine Rite.
I just want personal copies, but the guy who can do it won't copy it to DVD without permission.

Just wondering?

I have phoned the parish secretary, and she needs to know more information such as the date of the mass, who you are, and also she needs for you to be the one to contact them, she says.
It would be best to either fax them more details or email them more details (I would suggest email, since I don't know the exact long distance codes you would need for the fax)

How many flippin Latin Masses have they video taped?
I am assuming it is 1.
The tape was made in 1984.
My parish wants to copy the tape we own onto DVD.
We use it for liturgical instruction for priests and alcolytes.
The company doing it won't make the transfer since it is copyrighted.
I will email them again.

Perhaps you should try the fax?

Just wondering, is this tape in a black VHS box, and have a High Mass (priest, Deacon and subdeacon, except all of the three are priests) in green vestments, witha low Mass again in green vestments, with Solomen Benediction in White Vestmetns at the end?

OK, I've seen that tape. It's older than I thought, though. Could explain why the sound quality is so bad. How is the sound on your copy?

It is not too great.
The parish will not email me back.
I have send 2 requests.
I doubt anyone there knows much about the tape or how to grant permission exactly.

Still no emails back from them.
Still no answer on either of the phone lines - I always get the answering machine recording.
I normally call around 12:30 London time.

Kind of frustrating for you.
