Hello,
I recently have been questioning my own faith. I have been saved and baptised in a Christian church. But, I am struggling with committing the same sin over and over, which I know everybody struggles with.
But I know that it is wrong when I am doing it, but continue to do it. I LOVE GOD and I just find it hard to think that he just continues to forgive me. Something in my mind is telling me that I am not saved, I am not baptised, and that I am not going to heaven because of my sinning. Can anyone pls help.
thanks

Talk about a tough first post...

Look everyone sins, and everyone has a favorite sin whether it is pride, arrogance and some it is even graver, like masturbation, lust, etc...

My advice to you would be to talk to your pastor. The message boards here are nice but a nice talk with you pastor could be just the ticket.

If you can't then I would say remove all the temptations from your life that make this sin easier for you to commit, and spend quite a bit of time in prayer when these times hit.

Are you a Christian? Have you given your life over to the Lord? Have you accepted His sacrafice for your sins? Even the current ones?

Ask God to forgive you of this sin, and then move on. If it is serious enough I recommend pastoral counseling.

Know that you are a sinner.
That you will fall short of the glory of God.
Know your need for a Savior & Lord.
Know that God sent His Son to die for our sins and to save us from eternal separation.
That Jesus arose from the dead three days later.
That He became our Savior & Lord.
And He's sitting at the right-hand throne of God.
And He will come back one day and get us all.
And that you need to follow Jesus in baptism and church fellowship.
And that when you do, you need to follow Hiim in prayer and Word of God.

I think you are saved, because obviously the Holy Spirit has put a conviction on you, and to my knowledge, no undone person has the Spirit.

This is every Christian's struggle I'm afraid. In 2nd Corinthians, I believe, Paul talks about a thorn in his side. Now I'm not sure that he meant a physical disability or a particular sin that wouldn't leave him alone. He prayed for God to remove the thorn and God didn't, why? To help Paul grow in his walk. He understood that no matter the thorn he would always glorify God no matter the infirmity.

1st John 1:9 sums up forgiveness. God knows that the devil continuously bombards us with sin and since we are still in this flesh, we have that desire to fall back into it. Paul even said that he was the chief of all sinners. Being saved doesn't mean being free from sin, and it looks like you understand that. Sadly, Satan knows which buttons of ours to push in order to sin, but just keep strong. Keep praying. Refrain from people or circumstances that allow this particular sin in and trust God to forgive. He will forgive you if you confess and just imagine the testimony you will have when you are delivered from this sin:thumbsup:

I second the advice to seek out someone in real life for confession and counseling. I have done this in the same kind of situation and it really helped a lot.

Everyone commits some habitual sin, whether it is not following God's perfect will, sinning in our anger, not praying as often as we should, etc. If God did not save those who committed habitual sin, then no one could be saved. Christ's blood saves us from all sins. When we pray, calling on the name of Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour, we are clensed and justified. We are then set aside for God's use. That does not make us perfect, and does not keep us from committing habitual sins. Mine is I don't pray enough. I know it, and I try to change, but I keep doing it. I also have doubts from time to time, but I have found that picking up Scripture and reading one of the epistles (Ephesians is one of my favorites) or the book of John helps me get out of my funk. God has saved me, and if you believe, He has saved you too. Hold tight to it, and try your best to stop the sinning. We are called to try to be perfect, but no one can be perfect. Just take up the Word of God and let it be your guide back to faith in Him.

Yours in Christ,
Dave

You're not alone, Paul struggled too.
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

We all struggle with that sin that we keep going back to (easily besets us)
When we do, we need to continue our walk, look to Jesus, and not give up. Our strength to continue our walk comes from Him and not ourselves.

2Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

go to your pastor, or a good Christian friend. Sometimes just talking about it to a trusted friend seems to give comfort. Like when something is magnified as really bad in my head and I talk about it to others, then it's not so bad. I'll hear: "Is that all?" Kinda like the zit on your forhead, it's not noticable until you point it out and it's always bigger in your own perspaective.
