No, I'm not talking about iconography this time. Apparently, some Catholics in India are now worshiping false Hindu gods. Here's something that was brought up in the non-Christian religions forum:

http://www.ndtv.com/morenews/showmorestory.asp?category=National&slug=Catholic+priests+seek+Hindu+rituals&id=80561

It says:

The Pune Papal seminary said priests from all over India were unanimous that the Catholic clergy must incorporate Hindu practices like performing aarti during mass, studying Sanskrit and the Vedas, and experiencing ashram life.

For those who don't know, an aarti is a form of worshiping a Hindu idol, the Vedas are the scriptures of the Hindu religion, and an ashram is a Hindu temple that is used to honor false gods.

I can certainly forgive the practice of iconography, but if the Pope permits this form of blatent idol worship to take place, then even I will admit that the Catholic Church has gone apostate. They claim that they are doing this to integrate Christianity into Indian culture, but that isn't true for at least two reasons. First of all, there are quite a few indiginous Indian Christians who've never given themselves over to Hindu gods. Secondly, the Vedas are not some secular part of Indian culture; they are part of the false religion of Hinduism. I strongly favor cultural diversity within the church, but this is not diversity, it is idol-worship. It seems to me that this is all being done in the name of religious tolerance. However, Hinduism is a religion of pure wickedness, so I'm curious as to what these Christians hope to learn from it (one might as well ask Satan to teach us the Gospel).

Please pray for the Indian Catholics, that God would once again prove his might over the false gods of the world, as he did for the church when she was enslaved in Egypt. And please also pray for the Pope, so that he can be an effective pastor for his church by putting a stop to this compromise with evil.

I seriously doubt that if Rome is aware of this that it will be permitted to continue. There was an incident in Fatima where Hindus were allowed by a priest to worship false gods in the sanctuary of the basillica there and once Rome caught wind of it, there was some serious action taken against the priest.

What is NDtv? New Delhi TV?

I would not worry about Benedict changing the mass in India. News agencies are forever jumping on "appeals to the Vatican" as if every idea that comes down the pike will be approved. A group of priests, lay peopel or both write a letter and the press is all over it. The Vatican has allowed certain indigineous practices to be incorporated into worship as long as they are not contrary to the faith. I have heard that dance is allowed in Africa because dance is such an integral part of some African's spiritual lives. However dance is not allowed in the US mass as far as I know.

If Rome was aware however, they wouldn't even acknowledge it. That would seem like it. Wonder why that Benedict though hasn't taken any kind of action. Pope John Paul would.

I do not speak for the pope, but I imagine he has a lot on his plate and Roman Catholicism is a big religion.

The form of the mass isn't the only thing that concerns me. The Pope cannot control what these Catholics (clergy and laity) do in their free time. And it appears that they're spending their time worshiping gods that don't exist. If they continue to practice the wicked religion of Hinduism, then God will take away their place in the Kingdom of Heaven. The Bible tells us that the leaders of the church are charged with protecting our very souls. That is an enormous responsibility, and these priests are handing their flocks' souls over to false gods. I'd like to see the Catholic Church to at the very least require the Indian priests to deny the existence of Hindu gods.

I imagine they will be reprimanded and eventually excommunicated if they fail to stop.

Again, I think they shouldn't merely stop. They ought to repent by publically confessing that the Hindu gods do not exist, and that Hinduism is a false religion that leads to condemnation. Would you want to worship with a priest whom you knew to be a believer in a wicked and false religion? Sounds to me like the Israelite Baal priests whom Elijah destroyed.

No, I would not worship with such a priest, nor confess to him, nor receive communion that he consecrated.....of course I wouldn't do any of those things with a Roman Catholic priest anymore...but when I was Catholic...you know what i mean ^_^ Part of excommunication means that you have to publically renounce your errors, so that would naturally follow.
