Hello Everyone,
I thought I'd share with you all about a new bible study that the ladies at my church are doing. It's called "Breaking Free" (Making Liberty in Christ a Reality in Life)....by Beth Moore
Its an 11 week study. You do a daily workbook and then the week is ended with a group discussion and video. I'm into my 7th day and thoroughly enjoying it. What I found interesting in the first week was that we studied about 4 kings and a little bit of Isaiah the prophet. What Beth was trying to get us to see through these kings was that even though you could be considered a great king or an awful one.....God still blesses us and teaches us things through our mistakes. For one king it was pride another it was unbelief. Those things hold us captive. Keeping us from receiving the fullness of His glory, grace and blessings. We have to learn how to be humble. Realizing that everything that we have, everything that we need physically and even our spirituality is all from God. Without God it is irrelevant. We need to give God the glory, He deserves it. Beth pointed out something in todays lesson that really has hit me and opened my opens up even wider. "We were created for the purpose of giving His invisible character a glimpse of visibility." A lot of people seem to think that God has this big huge ego that he created humans to just play around with....just something that he could do or even for Him to control us. Thats all wrong....God wanted us to see Him. To know Him. How awesome?
I'll keep you all updated as I continue on through this study. If you all ever get an opportunity to study this, I would recommend it. I just love it so far.
God Bless you all!~~~Newbeliever
John 1:14 ~ The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

I have heard wonderful things about Beth Moore. I have read one book by her and I tell you I could have written it myself! It is one of the Best Books I have ever read. "When Godly People Do Ungodly Things: Arming Yourself in the Age of Seduction " It was AWESOME I highly recommend it! It is really an asset to my library! But I have not read this one - I guess I will pick it up- It would be nice to be able to discuss mutual books!
Keep me posted!

She just came to town in Knoxville TN last month. I didn't go because it was sold out in months in advance. But I heard she is awesome. She is planning to come back next year. Hoping and praying that I can get tickets.

The Lord has truly blessed Beth Moore! I've done 4 of her bible studies and I am currently doing The Patriarchs. I also went to Knoxville, TN, to see her. She is truly gifted and I would highly recommend her bible studies. She did a truly remarkable job in Knoxville and I'm going to see her when she comes to Birmingham, AL. Anyone who feels like they need a renewal, I would suggest going. You can definately feel God in the room w/o a doubt.

Well I ordered this last night so hopefully I can play catch up when it arrives. I am sooo impatient! I noticed someone selling tickets to see her here recently but I don't think it is in our area. I actually wanted to buy “The Patriarchs” but it was an extensive CD set I did not see it in book form?

I love Beth Moore's studies. I learn more about the Bible and its truth from her than I have ever learned before. I have done Jesus One and Only, Believing God, Fruit of the Spirit, and I am currently doing Breaking Free for the 2nd time. I originally did Breaking Free approximately 3 to 4 years ago and it is amazing to go back and see how much I have grown in my spiritual walk as compared to the first time I did the study.
You will greatly enjoy it. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_22_26.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxmk752YYCA)

She starts out with this verse
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
Oh, I really needed to have this lesson today and I think God knew it too.
God promises that he will be with us always. (Isaiah 43: 1-7).
But somehow we always tend to doubt Him. He has promised but yet we doubt Him ( Psalm 139:7-12)
Why is that? I think for myself it is I focus on the wrong things. I focus on what is going wrong, what is possibly going to happen and not realizing that because of the presence of God in my life I don't have to worry about the future. I don't have to worry about the bad stuff going on in the here and now.
All I have to do is trust in Him to get me through them, around them, far away from them. Depends on what is in His will, I will never have to know I am alone. Pretty neat, huh? :)
Thanks for sharing this lesson with me ~~~ newbeliever
Psalm 16:11
Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
(I can expect to have the fullness of joy in the presence of God...AWESOME!!)

Ok, I received this in the mail today hopefully I can get caught up with you!
But something is really bugging me, for days now. I couldn’t decide if to post or not so I will. When I did a search, both Internet and book store. I found a book written (in early years?) By Beth Moore regarding a novel it seems about a lesbian relationship. I tried to see if this was a different Beth Moore and even Amazon links back to her. Now after reading some of her work, I can understand her hesitation and reluctance of discussing her sinful past that she seems to reference quite a bit. Is this her book too? I cannot even find her official site? Does she have one or even a testimony?
Nonetheless, whatever experience she has had in her life, people make mistakes. I know this woman speaks with a Godly heart. But it was surprising and I want to make sure I have facts. Anyone know?

Awesome! Have you had a chance to do the first lesson yet?
I am on the 10th lesson and wont go on until Saturday when we go for our group discussion. I am really anxious about moving forward, but I know I need to be patient and hold still where I am at until Saturday.

I have not come across an official website for her, but I did find a not necessarily a testimony but an "about". Here is the link

I agree with you that we make mistakes. We all would be in big trouble if we were judged by our past experiences. I have a pretty good feeling that if this is true of her, that she has repented and is keeping her life in line with what God wants. She does speak with a Godly heart and I can hear and see it in this study.
Fly - let me know what you think so far about the book, I am anxious to hear what you say.

NB I just had a little bit of time to read last night and I am 100 pages in and ready to buy the workbook for further study with her perspective. You really need to take time with this; I completely understand why they have turned this into a study. Because without any history, this all being new to one – it can be TMI - TMI!! I tell you it is no different than the last one I read. The Holy Spirit is moving this woman - no QUESTION in my mind. I have yet to find one area where I even think I might not agree. I could have written these books. I could not even list all the points that I just wanted to wrap my arms around her and give her a great big hug for sharing this in her special way. I became so excited to hear others were studying this. (YOU!) Just awesome information! WOW is the only response I have.
Where are you at now in the study? I would love to discuss this book!!

You are right you need to take time with it. I think you would loose some valuable insight if you just whizzed on by it.
Where am I at in the study?....I'm on day 10 still. Tomorrow we will be reviewing and looking at a new video so that we can proceed with the next week's lessons. We are just involved in the workbook study with videos. I wasn't aware that she had a book that went along with this. I'll have to look for it when my funds decided I can afford it. :)
I'll keep you posted as I move forward.

Hey Flymonkie,
I found the website that the church ordered the Beth Moore material. Here is the link to what we are into now.

We had the video tape discussion on Saturday and WOW!!! I have again been reminded that all things happen in God's perfect timing. That God is with me even when I doubt that. I've been going through some troubling moments again and I have realized that through this study I am going to be free from these things that are holding me captive from God.
She gave equations that total liberty. I'll go ahead and outline what she said,
Environmental influences + experiential influences = my truth
My truth + 0 = incompletion (we are distorted by our presception of truth)
My truth + satan's lies = captivity.....BUT
God's truth IS > (greater) then my truth
Hebrews 4: 12-16
so,
My truth + God's truth = FREEDOM!!!!
Indeed if we can keep that equation functional in our daily life we can have freedom IN CHRIST!! We do not have a truth that God cannot break the stronghold.
I just thank God for all that he is doing in my life right now!!

I did Breaking Free a couple of years ago and loved it. It shoved me in the direction of Isaiah (which I had never paid much attention to before) and Isaiah is now one of my favorite books of the bible. There's so much hope there.
If you ever get a chance to hear Beth speak in person, go for it. Her seminars are wonderful.

Yeah but get the tickets in advance.
Because they sell out really quickly my friends.
About two to three months in advance.

They sold the tickets like a year in advance here. I was really surprised. It's hard to plan on being at an event a year ahead of time. I was able to get tickets from someone at the last minute though (someone had bought tickets and ended up not being able to go, so I took theirs).

Quotes from this weeks study that I found to be important for me to remember.
Day 1: "The Obstacle of Unbelief"
"Now for the good news! If we're willing to admit our lack of confidence in Him, Christ is more than willing to help us overcome our unbelief."
"We tend to run to God for temporary relief. God is looking for people who will walk with Him in steadfast belief. Choose to believe. Those who trust in Him will not be put to shame."
Day 2: "The Obstacle of Pride"
"God wants to free us from any hindrances in our past. God wants to bring us out of dark closets. God wants to help us with constraining problems. God wants to make us strong iin Him."
"Humility takes a supply of supernatural strength that comes only to those who are strong enough to admit weakness."
"Humility can be rather easily attained by simply opening our eyes to reality. We must choose to lower our heads from lofty, inappropriate places."
Day 3: "The Obstacle of Idolatry"
"Holy Spirit does not convict us of sin to condemn us. Rather, He convicts us of sin so we'll become aware, seek forgivness, and be set free!"
"Anything we try to put in a place where God belongs is an idol."
Day 4: "The Obstacle of Prayerlessness"
"Often, we do everything but pray. We tend to want something more "substantial." Even studying the Bible, going to church, talking to the pastor, or receiving counsel seems more tangible than prayer. What victory the enemy has in winning us over to prayerlessness!"
"Only through prayer are we washed in peace."
"We must walk with Christ step-by-step through this journey for the sake of protection, power, and a resulting unparralleled passion in our lives."
I haven't got to Day 5 yet. That will be tomorrow. As you can see I am rather impatient and couldn't wait to share what I have already. I'll add Day 5 tomorrow.
Enjoy!

YES!! YES!! YES!! This is why you see me go on and on all the time about KNOWING Gods promises to us. This is our truth this is where we start! I always tell this to those that are new believers when they ask "Where do I start". Of course, the two greatest commandments, but then know what God has promised you as His child. Assurance is so very important. Because when we come to those trials in our lives, we can always fall back on those promises to get through them. The next step is learning a Christ Like attitude. IMO Everything we do should be flavored with those two Commandments Love God with all your heart and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus made a special point to us by saying THESE TWO laws hang on ALL the laws and the Prophets! These are the greatest we can do. By working on those two things, combined with knowing Gods promises will help is in our daily walk of learning exactly what it means to be Christ like. Working daily hand in hand with God is as important. And Satan loves nothing better than to “disillusion us” into thinking “what it?” or “maybe not” or any other deception that God might not keep His promises. It is truly amazing how everything else just falls into place while we are just learning how to work on our own personal relationship with God. He is just awesome!
So far I really like her. I have never seen all of this put together in such a way in only one book. I truly recommend this! I had a chance to get the workbook for this, but I chose instead to get "A Heart Like His" and journal, also “Believing God” and journal. So I am really excited on working on those two. I have read through this book already. I want to go back and revisit some chapters here and there. But many things I have already studied, however, it is great to go over it again and with a different perspective! I am not sure how the book equates to the workbook.
