Ever heard of spiritual mapping? If so, what do you think of it? What are some ideas and things you have experienced? I wanted to open a topic on the issue as I can't seem to find anyone discussing it anywhere. So, what do you think?

If you want to know more what spiritual mapping is, go here:

Read parts of it and still don't get it? mind breaking it down a little?

Okay...never heard of it...

Then tried to click on the link you left Josephus...but it went to "page not found" :(

Is there a brief way to describe what it is?
Or should I try looking up the link on another browser. ;)

I guess in short it is walking around an area, or looking at a map, and then asking for the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what the enemy strongholds are (if any) and their identification is so that targeted community prayer destroys those strongholds in the spiritual, and thus effect the natural.

Then you map it out on board or something, your community or area in which you felt God leading you to pray about. Once you have this "intelligence" on the spiritual enemy, you can gather other Christians in the area in unity to tear these strongholds down and claim an entire area for Jesus Christ.

So what do you think? Have you ever heard about it?

hmm..sounds a little like a prayer walk..but you do this for places that aren't nessisarily "strongholds". Never seen what you describe in action besides having a prayer "vidgil" for an abortion clinic. Prayer walks work. It gives "cover" to a place that "needs" it.

Huh. Never tried it...will look into it. Have heard of prayer walking and have heard of some awesome results in that endeavor.

simply..walking while praying. It is preparing a place for a spiritual battle. Like when you stand in front of each room in your house and ask God to bless it and keep all who enter from harm. Usually done in a group and you walk around the whole house "blanketing" it in prayer.

Okay...I got it now I think.

Thanks. :)

To be honest.. I have never heard of this either. The first time I read it, (though I now know the intent behind it), it sounded a little bit like Divination. I don't think that is what they are trying to do, mind you, but... Just my two cents. ;)

Check with your local preacher ;) I'll see if I can dig up some stuff on prayer WALKING if you want me to.

May I ask a question?

Where in the word did Jesus command us to do this? Last I read, He told us to Preach the Gospelnot do "spiritual warfare" .

(this is an honest question, I would really like to know your authority on this).

if I knew, I wouldn't have opened up a topic on it. :) but preaching the gospel is spritual warfare. anything you do for God is advancing the kingdom, and anytime you advance his kingdom, you are engaging in warfare.

Exactly!!! We were commissioned to Preach the Gospel. Why do people have to add to what we were called to do? I'm sure that they mean well but they are missing the boat. Preach the Word and when a demon sticks his little nose up. Plug him with the word.

Hi,

The spiritual mapping that I have heard about involved guidance from the Holy Spirit to identify spiritual strongholds and principalities and powers that rule over certain cities. There was a pastor on TV (I am sorry but I do not remember his name--this was about 6 years ago) who had a ministry dedicated to this type of spiritual warfare. He identified strongholds in Las Vegas, San Francisco, and some other major cities. He had a group that would pray to break these strongholds down. He also advised doing so in your own town or city.

That is the only time I have heard of it. I thought it was very fascinating.

God Bless,
Roberta

I find it fascinating too. Identifying strongholds in your community and then praying against them.

to preach the gospel is the beginning, but it's not all of it. a simple computer program can preach the gospel, but it's the people that operate in the power and the will of God that help demolish strongholds.

this leads me to the next question, what is prayer?

I have done it over a period of time. You better be ready and unafraid though. It starts to work and the demons start to shut you down. They started coming to me in dreams, but while dreaming, I would hide my loved ones and either pray or start reading the Word. It worked but it is a little scary. You had better be prayed up and continue even when you are asleep.

At my old church we did spiritual mapping. My Pastor had us go to each of the corners of our state (where by the way we found masonic obolisk's marking each geographical corner). In a nutshell, There he had us pray for the Lord to break the power of certain dominions over our state. We would have communion in that place and pray to reconsecrate the ground in the name of Jesus. He had us do this in our city as well. There were groups of us scattered around the city and we basically did the same thing, but prayed for different things that were pertinent to the city.

Do I believe it worked? If you want my personal opinion. I can find no reference in the bible for "spiritual mapping". It seems like just "spiritual mumbo jumbo" to me. But who am I to judge. I can't say that I can even begin to understand how God works. It could be him, or it could just be another new age thing thats crept into the church to "deceive the elect".

As for me, Im sticking to the simple now. Praying for the lost, my children, my home, and asking the Lord to direct my words when I get the opportunity to share Christ with someone who is genuinely interested in knowing who he is and what he is about. Feeding the poor, and loving my neighbor. Thats enough to fill anyones day. I have come to the conclusion that while the Lord walked this earth he taught us many things, one of which was to live simply and love much. If I can do that just a tiny fraction as good as he did it, I will hear those words I long to hear when I meet him face to face.

Well done, my good and faithful servant. Anything above that is gravy.

No deception, it is casting out demons. And there are strongholds in almost all homes. I did it alone for a long period of time and for much time each night.
