View Full Version : How far does forgiveness go?

Lets say someone knows the things he is doing are wrong, lets say he believes, truely believes in Christ as his savior. Now this person also believes forgiveness is given and we are all sinners so there is no use in trying not to sin, so he has premarital sex, lives with his girlfriend, then gets married, always asking for forgiveness when necessary. Is he truely forgiven if he never even tried? We are all sinners so should we torture ourselves trying to be perfect and go against our "nature" or should we just live life like everyone else and know god will forgive us.
I have my opinion but i'd like yours.

Romans 6:1,2 says:
1What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?
2By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
I believe there are those who take advantage of grace, I think the LORD will deal with their hearts. The Word tells us to be perfect as He is perfect, so pretty clear on all this I think. We spend time in the Word, in prayer, and with fellow believers, depend on Him to live a life pleasing to Him. If we veer, He is faithful to tap us on the shoulder. ;)

I sin all the time but I can't help myself so I always find myself repenting to Him ... I think I need more help in prayer... I feel completely useless to sin everytime ..... You can never find me succeding in defeating sin ... If I love Jesus so much , why do I sin ?

Basically you are asking, Is there an end to grace?
If there were an end to grace, would it still be grace?

Christ died for the since we've committed...and will commit...past, present, and future.
Before Christ drew His last breath on the cross, he uttered "Tetelestai" (a tense of the Greek word "Teleo")which translates to "it is finished", or just plain "finished". But here's the cool thing...gramatically speaking, the word "tetelestai" is in perfect tense...meaning it starts in the past and is something that continues on in a still-complete state into the future...in other words, Christ's forgiveness has an abiding effect...it never ends. Good news!!
So....assuming that the conversion of the hypothetical person above is real, I'd say his sins are forgiven...however, he'll have much to account for on the day of Judgement. While, as Christians, our salvation is secure, we are still rewarded according to what we have done....and not done. There are "levels", if you will, of rewards in heaven.

no it's not there is no end to grace i know this
is a man forgiven if he speaks "forgive me" and does not attempt to change his heart and actions.
is forgiveness granted if the heart is not in it
does repentence mean just asking for forgiveness or both that and the attempt to turn from the sin

Is forgiveness granted based on our willingness to accept it? I don't believe that it is. I believe that the Bible speaks of forgiveness as being granted regardless of whether we accept it or not.

He died for us while we were still sinners. In fact, He died for me before I was even born.
Yes, forgiveness and grace has already bee granted. It's not something God draws out of His drawer when it's needed, and it doesn't run dry.

Here is how sin works in all of us when we are OUT of Fellowship.....ALL sins are between the sinner and the Lord. If he uses 1 John 1:9 when he confesses, he is forgiven.....But ALL believers must watch out for PERPETUAL sinning......for the below shows what happens to belivers when they do.
"God makes war against the arrogant, but gives grace to the humble" (True humility is objectivity and teachability)...Also James 4:6 & 1 Pet 5:5
THE ARROGANCE COMPLEX OF SINS:
Jealousy, pride, bitterness, vindictiveness, implacability, vituperation, vilification, revenge, hatred, self pity and practically ever form of stress in the soul, leading to vilification and vituperation.
EMOTIONAL COMPLEX OF SINS: (has some overlap)......
Fear, worry, anxiety, anger, haltered, jealousy, malice, tantrums, loathing, egotistical irrationality, insensitivity towards others, over sensitivity about self, denial, projection, guilt.....guilt is the worst.
THE DOMINATION OF THE LUST PATTERNS OF THE OLD SIN NATURE:
Power lust, approbation lust, pleasure lust, social lust, crusader lust (Christian activism), inordinate ambition, monetary lust, greed, cupidity, lust for revenge, avarous, criminal lust.
(Quenching and grieving is now taking place in the soul, then later comes Reversionism, then black out of the soul, then finally the sin unto death (physical death-maximum discipline))
All of this results from the functions, Arrogance Skills of the soul. (the flesh and the Old Sin Nature)
The alternative of the Spiritual Skills, are the functions of the Arrogance skills, which are.......
Self Justification
Self Absorption
Self Deception
How to Rebound from sin....1 John 1:9....and after, ....Daily in-take of Bible Doctrine metabolizing in the soul, which in turn builds the "Edification Complex of the Soul". (E.C.S.) Keep short account of your sins and Rebound.......
In eternity past God provided your very own portfolio of "Invisible Assets", for you are designed by God to actually solve your own problems with what He has provided. Only ACCURATE bible teaching from your right PT can fill your soul with ingredients of Grace necessary to take the high ground to Spiritual Maturity.
