I love the Lord soooo much because there have been times in my life when I have wandered away from Him:( and when I return there He is waiting for me with His Arms open wide ready to welcome me back^_^ . Plus He died for my sins. :amen:

Yes! Yes! Yes! :clap:
He is good* and I want to be in the middle of His goodness. As I move in toward Him, I feel it increase. As I move away, the cold, dark and emptiness increase.
Yes, He has been good to me, and poured out blessings, but it isn't just the stuff. Even the devil can offer us stuff, but his feigned "goodness" is empty and vain. :sick:
The stuff meets needs and Godly objectives, but it's His goodness that enthralls me.

I love the Lord first and foremost because he died for me. he also pulled me out of some pretty stupid things I was doing to myself a couple years ago.

I love him because he loved me enough to die for my sins and give me a chance to be with him eternally. I not only love him, i am "in love " with him. He is my bridegroom , and i am his bride . And every day gets sweeter knowing im one day closer to his eternal presence.

I love Him with all my heart,because He thought of me when I wasn't even thinking of Him. I love Him because of His love,compassion faithfulnes,promises,because He meets all of my needs. I love Him for His gift of Salvation and eternal life. I love Him for His gentleness and treating me with kid gloves when I have deserved a Whipping,He chastised me with love instead. He brought me around through my heart.

I have difficulty loving anyone who is an idea. I might believe God exists, but I can't love someone who I can't see, touch or hear!

I truly love the Lord. What He did on the cross for me makes me weep. Why He loves me is something I will not understand until the day I can stand in His presence and He says to me "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

I love the Lord, because He gave me the Truth & the Truth made me FREE!!! He helps me get through the rough times, so I don't have to mask it with mind-altering substances & teaches me the right way to live in peace and serenity!

My Eternal King
My God, I love Thee;
Not because I hope for heaven thereby,
Nor yet because who love Thee not must die eternally.
Thou, O my Jesus, Thou didst me upon the cross embrace;
For me didst wear the nails and spear, and manifold disgrace.
Why, then why, O blessed Jesus Christ, should I not love
Thee well?
Not for the hope of winning heaven, or of escaping hell;
Not with the hope of gaining aught; not seeking a reward;
But as thyself hast loved me, O ever-loving Lord!
E'en so I love Thee, and will love, and in Thy praise will sing;
Solely because Thou art my God, and my Eternal King.
anonymous 17th-Century Latin poem
translated by Edward Caswall
I love Him because He is my God and my Eternal King.

When you read the things that others have said here, doesn't it make you wonder if you're missing something?

I forget who wrote that 'God is an idea in the heart of man' and I think that is close to the truth. I don't think God is outside each of us. I think the deity is the divine spark inside our psyche, which we can choose to access or not. I don't think it is tragic not to see God the way fundamentalists do, my way of relating to God is just as valid imo!

Rom 5:8
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Psalm 8:4
4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?"

No, your way of relating to God reflects a lack of knowledge. "My people are destroyed by lack of knowledge." - Hosea 4:6. Who created you (us)?
Were you created by an idea ?
John Lennon sang "God is a concept by which we measure our pain".....in the same song, he says "I just believe in me...Yoko and me...and that's reality." Well, I love John's music but I wish he took the time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ before he was murdered. By his own account, his assassin was possessed by half a dozen demons when he shot Lennon.
God is a person. He is the person of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is the biggest, most ancient, powerful, loving, merciful person in the Universe. He created us in His own image. And we can have a personal, moment-to-moment, miraculous relationship with Him. What could be better than this ? If you want this, you can have it, you can find it. It's all in the Bible, and many commentaries (and wise believers) can guide you through a journey in the Bible, and you can get to know God. Start today. The days are numbered. Peace and joy be with you.

I love the Lord for the fact that He has done so much for me (and all of us) and He is the only way to salvation. He is the difference between eternal love and life, and eternal damnation. He is our parent, our father, and we should love Him as such. It's like when parents want nothing more than to help and to love their child, all you have to do is to obey them. And when you don't, even then they show infinate patience and love. How could you not love them?

I love Him because He's just so wonderful! He's loving, patient, kind, incredibly generous, supportive... He's unlike anyone I've ever seen on earth. Even if I were to search the entire universe, I'm sure I won't find anyone as wonderful as He is! When I feel down or anxious over something, He tells me to relax and not worry. And He's right! Things I worry about just... disappear. He's the one who is there for me when there seems to be no hope. When no human ears heard me cry, He did. And He comforted me and rescued me.
When I feel lonely, He's there with me. He's the one who said, "I am with you, always." And I truly believe that. He's with me through thick and thin. In good times and in bad times.
When I cry, when I'm hurt, when everyone seems to be against me, He's the one who supported me. He's the one who truly understands me. He doesn't judge me. His teachings are gentle, yet effective and to the point. He knows exactly how to deal with me, what I need. Most of all... He loves me like no other! And I love Him!
